Chapter 1316 Meeting Gift
Chapter 1316 Meeting Gift
The area at the entrance of Apocalypse Park's headquarters is now beyond chaotic.
Every so often, the Black Demon would emerge from the shadow of one of the contractors, like a crumpled black rag, and slap itself onto the target.
The person who gets covered in mud will let out a rather undignified scream, not the kind of heroic roar of someone going to their death, but the kind of instinctive "Ouch, damn it!" howl that comes out when someone's toe is stepped on in the market.
This thing is unreasonable. If you cut it with a knife, the knife will go right through its body without leaving a cut.
You bombard it with your skills, it's blasted apart, and a few seconds later it re-emerges from another person's shadow, like a slug that you can't crush no matter what.
You run, but it catches up with you faster.
If you stand still, it will spin twice in place, and then with a thud, it will land on the unlucky guy next to you who couldn't help but twitch his leg.
The entire entrance to Apocalypse Park was in complete chaos, like a pot of boiling porridge. The rice grains were churning, the foam on the surface was bursting, and the fire at the bottom of the porridge was burning. The person in charge of the ladle didn't know whether to add water to the pot or take it away.
The nameless saint stood on a high ground on the outskirts, his spear hanging at his side, the bloodstains on the tip of the spear already dried.
He stared at the black demon that was still wandering around the camp, his brows furrowed deeply.
Some suggested finding a few daredevils to lure the Black Demon away from the camp.
This suggestion is the most feasible, but the problem is where to find suicide squad members.
What Apocalypse Paradise desperately needs are contractors who know they will die but are still willing to die.
Tell them that you go in and distract the monster, then self-destruct. You will die, but your deaths will ensure everyone's safety.
What would they say? They would say, "Why me? Why don't you go? You say I'm the commander, I need to be out there overseeing everything."
They would say, "Then you should take charge of the overall situation; I'm fine staying here."
This is the biggest difference between Apocalypse Paradise and Reincarnation Paradise.
The madmen in the cycle of reincarnation, knowing they are doomed, won't ask you why they are me; they'll only ask you which way you can drag the most people down with you.
If you tell them that charging east will kill three people and charging west will kill five, they will choose west without hesitation, and then grin on the way to the front, laughing like a mental patient who has been locked up for ten years and finally released from his cage.
The nameless saint took a deep breath, clearing those chaotic thoughts from his mind.
He can't afford to lose his composure now; if he does, the entire Apocalypse Paradise will truly fall apart.
On the hill, the drug dealer crouched in the shade of a crooked tree, an unlit cigarette dangling from his mouth, his eyes narrowed to slits as he looked through the sniper scope at the chaotic camp below.
"Boss, should we go down and add some more ingredients?"
Ghost Girl squatted on a rock next to the drug dealer, hugging her knees with her arms and resting her chin on her knees. The two bunny ears on the hood of her pink hoodie swayed gently in the night breeze.
Her eyes were fixed on the campsite below the mountain, her pupils reflecting the flickering firelight and the flashes of explosions, making her look like a cat perched on a windowsill watching the street scene.
The drug dealer took the cigarette out of his mouth, twirled it twice on his fingertips, and then put it back in his mouth.
This time, Lin Yi only sent a few dozen SRT students, but if used well, these few dozen people would be enough to turn Apocalypse Paradise upside down.
Meiyou's sniping has proven this point. One person, one gun, and a few bullets turned the entrance to Apocalypse Paradise into a minefield that no one dared to tread.
If you move, the Black Demon will smother you.
If you don't move, the sniper will call your name.
You can neither move nor remain still; you're caught in the middle, caught between two difficult situations: above and below, left and right, and front and back.
"Adding a little more ingredients wouldn't be out of the question."
He took out his terminal, turned on the screen, and prepared to ask the Mad Doctor about the progress in the team channel.
The moment my finger swiped the screen, the Black Parasite Girl emerged from the shadows beside me.
"Watch the war communications channel."
The poison master glanced at her and opened the war communication channel.
Two messages were pinned to the top of the channel, one from Lin Yi and the other from the dean.
Lin Yi's message was brief: Suicide Squad, bring back some machines.
Attached is a floor plan of the Tianqi Paradise supplies storage area, with the locations of several key pieces of equipment marked in red.
The Dean's message was even more concise: Apocalypse's mining equipment is the best in the entire Void; bring it back.
The poison master almost dropped the cigarette from his mouth when he saw these two messages.
He took a deep breath, took the cigarette out of his mouth, pinched it between his thumb and forefinger, and rubbed it between his fingertips.
If it were a former Poison Master, upon seeing this message, they would probably have immediately started ranting in the channel.
How can you exploit people like this? You send our suicide squad to their deaths, fine, but after they're done, you expect us to be their porters? Do you think this is a buffet where you can eat your fill and then take the leftovers home?
But this time was different. This time, the SRT students that Lin Yi sent did indeed reduce a lot of trouble for them. If it weren't for Miyu creating uncertainty from afar, Black Demon would have already had his weaknesses identified by the contractors of Apocalypse Paradise through the process of elimination.
But Miyu's sniper rifle made the idea of "not moving" a pipe dream.
If you stand still, Miyu will shoot you.
You ran away, and the Dark Demon attacked you. You kept jumping back and forth in the middle, and both sides attacked you at the same time.
The longer this process drags on, the lower the morale of Apocalypse Paradise will be. They will have less time to analyze the weaknesses of the Dark Demon and will only think about how to get out of this damned battlefield alive.
The drug dealer put the cigarette back in his mouth, swiped his finger across the terminal screen a few times, and zoomed in on the floor plan that Lin Yi had sent.
The supply storage area is located on the north side of the camp, near the tail compartment of the spaceship, and quite a distance from the main gate that the Apocalypse Paradise contractors mainly defend.
If the chaos at the main gate can be maintained for a while longer, the defenses on the north side will likely be very weak, so weak that there may only be a few people on guard, or even no one at all.
“Ghost Girl.” The Poison Master turned his head and looked at Ghost Girl, who was squatting on the rock.
Ghost Girl tilted her head, her big eyes blinking beneath the pink hoodie, looking like a cat whose name had been called by its owner, curious yet with a hint of bewilderment.
"Go to the north side and put those machines into the storage space, as many as you can fit."
Ghost Girl jumped down from the rock, pulled down the hood of her hoodie, straightened the two bunny ears, and then looked up at the Poison Master.
"Boss, am I going alone?"
"Can your blurring skill allow you to pass through crowds without being detected?"
Ghost Girl thought for a moment and nodded.
"It should be fine. As long as I don't attack first or touch anyone, they won't be able to detect me in my ethereal state."
"Then let's go."
Ghost Girl nodded again, turned around, and walked down the hill.
She took a few steps and then stopped, turning back to look at the drug addict with an embarrassed expression on her face.
"Boss, what do those machines look like? I'm afraid I'll install the wrong one."
The poison master was silent for a moment, then turned the terminal screen towards Ghost Girl and tapped a few times on the device images marked with red circles.
"These, see them? They look like this. If you see any that look like this, put them all in. If you can't fit them all, remember where they are and come back and tell me."
Ghost Girl leaned over and glanced at him a few times, then nodded. He didn't look like an assassin going on a stealth mission; he looked more like a primary school student going on a spring outing.
"Have the SRT fire a few more shots. Don't kill anyone, just wound them. Killing them will make them tighten their defenses, wounding them will throw them into disarray."
Meiyou's reply came very quickly.
"clear."
boom.
Gunshots rang out in the night sky, more muffled than before.
In the crowd at the entrance of Apocalypse Paradise, a contractor who was trying to isolate the Black Demon with an energy barrier suddenly clutched his shoulder and collapsed.
The bullet passed through a gap in the barrier and struck his shoulder precisely, without damaging the bone, but he would be unable to lift his arm for a short time.
The person next to him instinctively wanted to help him, but as soon as they reached out, they pulled their hand back.
It wasn't that they were cold-blooded, but that the moment they reached out, they remembered the Dark Lord's hunting rules—movement triggers predation.
Your hand is outstretched, your hand is moving. Will your hand be identified as a moving target by the Black Magic? No one knows the answer, and no one is willing to use their own hand to verify the answer.
The man lost his balance and fell to one side, his shoulder hitting the ground with a dull thud.
The moment he landed, a mass of black, rotten flesh fell from the sky and landed precisely on his back.
"Help, help me—" His voice caught in his throat for a moment, and then he fell silent.
The surrounding crowd took a few steps back.
The chaos at the main gate reached its peak at this moment.
"Have the men on the north side increase their vigilance," the nameless saint said to his adjutant, turning his head. "The Paradise of Reincarnation won't just be focusing on the main gate."
"Sir, the people on the north side say... everything is normal on their side, and they haven't found anything unusual."
The madmen of the Paradise of Reincarnation made such a commotion at the main gate to attract all their attention.
So where is their real target? At the main gate? On the flank? Or at the place on the north side where supplies are stored?
The ghost girl crouched behind a pile of supply boxes, her pink hoodie standing out conspicuously in the darkness.
She glanced down at her clothes, then sighed. She should have worn the darker outfit. Her body began to become transparent, starting from the edges, like a painting being soaked in water, its outlines blurring and its colors fading.
A few seconds later, she completely disappeared into thin air, not by becoming invisible, but by entering a state of etherealization.
She passed through the fence of the supplies storage area, past the stacked wooden crates and iron barrels, past several flatbed trucks parked on the open ground, and drifted towards the tail section of the spaceship.
The hatch to the tail section of the spaceship was half open, with a contractor standing on each side of the hatch. They were wearing dark light armor, with short knives hanging at their waists and short submachine guns in their hands, muzzles pointing downwards and fingers resting on the outside of the trigger guard.
They stood relaxed, leaning against the bulkheads on either side of the hatch, occasionally yawning.
As Ghost Girl walked by, the guard on the right suddenly sneezed, spraying snot onto the spot where Ghost Girl had just passed.
Ghost Girl glanced back, pouted, and continued drifting into the spaceship.
The passageways inside the spaceship are very narrow, allowing only two people to pass side by side.
On both sides of the passage are rows of tightly closed metal doors, each marked with a number.
Ghost Girl found the door at the deepest part of the spaceship.
The ghost girl reached out and passed through the obstacle; in her ethereal state, she ignored any physical barriers.
The room behind the door is very large, with an area of at least 100 square meters.
Dozens of wooden crates were neatly stacked in the room. The crates varied in size and shape. Some crates were marked with the Tianqi Paradise logo, while others had seals on them, the writing on which had become blurred.
Deep inside the room, Ghost Girl saw what the Poison Master had asked her to find.
The machines were much bigger than she had imagined; the smallest one was over two meters tall, and the largest one almost touched the ceiling.
She placed her palm on the machine's casing, and with a thought, the machine disappeared from her sight.
As she walked out of the room, she saw the two contractors playing cards.
This time they weren't playing cards, but eating instant noodles.
Two people squatted in the corner, each holding a paper bowl with noodles on chopsticks. The noodles spun in the air a few times before being sucked into their mouths, making a slurping sound.
When they reached the tail section of the spaceship, Ghost Girl's body emerged from its ethereal state.
She peeked out from beside the hatch and looked at the situation outside.
There was no one outside the fence of the material storage area, only a few lights swaying gently in the night wind, casting flickering spots of light on the ground.
She emerged from behind the hatch, strode across the supplies storage area, climbed over the fence, and plunged into the roadside bushes.
On the hill, when Ghost Girl emerged from the bushes, her pink hoodie was covered in leaves, and the two bunny ears on her hat were askew, with a caterpillar hanging from one of them.
The poison master stared at the caterpillar wriggling on the rabbit's ear, remained silent for a moment, then reached out, pinched the caterpillar off the rabbit's ear, and flicked it aside.
"How much was loaded?"
Ghost Girl took out the small notebook from her pocket, flipped to the page with the equipment model number, and handed it to the Poison Master.
The poison master took the notebook, glanced at it, then glanced at it again, before closing it and handing it back to Ghost Girl.
"good."
The poison master looked away and sent a message in the team channel.
"The equipment has arrived, eight units in total, and the model number has been recorded. It will be sent over later."
The dean's reply came very quickly.
"it is good."
"You should retreat when the opportunity arises; this objective has been achieved."
Just as the poison master was about to reply, he suddenly sensed a surge of energy coming from the foot of the mountain.
He raised his head and looked in the direction of the Apocalypse Paradise headquarters.
A flash of light appeared in the direction of the spaceship.
It wasn't just a few scattered sparks, but a series of explosions.
The flames started from the tail section of the spaceship, spreading upwards along the outer shell and exploding into orange flames on the hull.
Half a minute later, a series of explosions came from the foot of the mountain, like a string of lit firecrackers, crackling and popping.
The Poison Master watched the Apocalypse spaceship being engulfed in flames, then turned to look at the Ghost Girl, who was crouching next to a rock, sleeping while hugging a teddy bear.
The poison master was silent for a moment, then spoke.
"Ghost Girl".
"Hmm." The ghost girl's voice was very soft, with a slight nasal tone, as if she were talking in her sleep.
"Did you leave something in the spaceship?"
"Hmm." The ghost girl rolled over, burying her face in the red light, her voice even more indistinct. "I put a few teddy bears in. In case they found out the machine had been stolen, I put some band-aids on their spaceship."
"Boss, the spaceship burned down, will they escape?"
“No.” Poison Master shook his head. “I know that Nameless Saint. He’s not the kind of person who would abandon an entire war just because one spaceship was destroyed.”
"Oh." Ghost Girl nodded, then took out the pudding cup that had been eaten clean from her pocket, held it up to the light to make sure there was really nothing left inside, and then put the cup back in her pocket.
"Then let's blow it up again."
The poison master glanced at her but said nothing.
Down the mountain, the spaceship's flames were still burning.
Boom, boom, boom.
Explosions rang out one after another, not from the direction of the spaceship, but from the direction of the camp's main gate.
The explosions lasted for several minutes before subsiding. While the casualties at Apocalypse Park were not severe, their morale was dealt a heavy blow.
An army has discipline, order, logistics, and a command system. If you destroy its command system, it will fall into chaos; if you cut off its logistics, it will retreat; if you eliminate most of its forces, it will surrender.
A madman is different; if you destroy a madman's command system, he will give himself orders.
If you cut off the madman's supplies, he'll steal from you.
You never know what a madman will do next, because you can't use logic to predict someone who doesn't act logically.
The spot where the Black Demon had been standing had been reduced to scorched earth, but it had vanished without a trace.
"Ugh."
A little boy sat on the scorched earth, hugging his knees and burying his head in them, sobbing.
His clothes were covered in dust and bloodstains, and his hair was disheveled, with a few strands hanging down in front of his forehead, obscuring half of his eye.
Upon seeing the little boy, the nameless saint's mind went blank.
He wanted to know what kind of thing it was this time.
"Everyone, move back, maintain a safe distance, and do not move too fast."
Upon hearing this order, the surrounding contractors immediately began to retreat.
The little boy looked up, revealing a face covered in dust and tears.
"They all bully me, and you bully me too." The little boy's voice was soft, with a sob in it, like a child who had been bullied by classmates at school and was going home to tell his parents.
Cracks appeared on his cheeks and the backs of his hands at a visible speed.
The cracks emerged from beneath the skin, like cracks in porcelain, spreading outwards from the center, becoming denser and deeper.
A dark red light flickered at the edge of the crack, and the brightness of the light rapidly increased, changing from dark red to bright red, from bright red to orange-red, and from orange-red to dazzling white.
The nameless saint's pupils contracted sharply.
"Lie down."
thump.
A mushroom cloud rose into the sky, and orange-red flames exploded in the night sky, forming a huge fireball.
The nameless saint was thrown back by the shockwave of the explosion, tumbling several times in the air before crashing heavily to the ground. His back slammed against a protruding rock with a dull thud, and a metallic, sweet taste filled his mouth.
He got up from the ground, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, and then looked in the direction of the explosion's epicenter.
There appeared a huge pit, more than 20 meters in diameter and more than 5 meters deep, with its walls radiating outwards like a flower torn in half.
The soil at the bottom of the pit had been burned into a glassy state by the high temperature, and it gleamed dimly in the firelight.
Blood, flesh, and tattered clothing gathered in the giant pit, and dark red liquid flowed from all directions to the bottom of the pit, forming an irregular circular pool of blood.
A few seconds later, the little boy, dressed in somewhat tattered clothes, sat in the giant pit.
His expression remained unchanged, still that aggrieved look, like someone complaining to an adult, saying they hit me, they bullied me, and you have to avenge me.
The Nameless Saint had fought in so many wars across the world, and had never encountered anything like this before. Was this the welcoming gift from the Paradise of Reincarnation? (End of Chapter)
