Chapter 74 Preparing for Battle
Chapter 74 Preparing for Battle
Son Gohan's face still retained a touch of childlike roundness, yet his eyes shone with a resolute and courageous light, as if telling the world that he was no longer the naive child. He wore a simple blue cloth shirt, the edges of which were slightly worn, as if telling the story of his past adventures. His trousers were ordinary linen pants, and on his feet were a pair of dusty boots, giving him an aura of simplicity and bravery.
Piccolo leaped down from the boulder, his movements as light as a swallow, landing steadily in front of Gohan. His expression grave, he said to Gohan, "Gohan, they're here. Two very powerful auras are approaching us; it must be those two Saiyans. These two are not to be underestimated. But don't be afraid. You're no longer the weak child you once were. You possess immense power within you, a potential you haven't even fully explored yourself. Now it's time to unleash it. Your clothes are torn; change into new ones and prepare for battle."
Gohan clenched his fists slightly, a hint of tension flashing in his eyes—an instinctive reaction when facing a powerful enemy—but it was quickly replaced by determination. He looked up at Piccolo and said, "Uncle Piccolo, I understand! I will fight hard! Uncle Piccolo, I want a set of clothes like yours."
Piccolo glanced at Gohan, a barely perceptible smile playing on his lips, and murmured, "Hmph, alright!" With that, he extended his right hand towards Gohan, fingers spread, and began to cast a spell. A beam of green light shot from his hand, like a nimble sprite, and coiled around Gohan. In a flash, Gohan appeared wearing the same bandana and cape as Piccolo. The bandana covered his tousled hair, and the cape fluttered in the wind. Gohan excitedly touched the bandana, a confident smile spreading across his face, as if he had suddenly gained boundless power.
The two waited quietly for the enemy to arrive, the air around them seemingly frozen.
Suddenly, a figure silently appeared beside the two. Piccolo and Gohan did not react at all, as if there had always been three people there.
The newcomer had short hair and wore an orange-red martial arts uniform with the character "turtle" embroidered on the front and back. It was Shang Yun. He had been using his Divine Realm Technique continuously without regard for the cost, and his speed in arriving was astonishing.
"Gohan, you've grown taller." Shang Yun squinted at Son Gohan, a faint smile on his lips.
"Who!" Piccolo was focused on sensing the two powerful auras when he suddenly heard a voice beside him. He was terrified and quickly grabbed Gohan, jumping far away.
"Piccolo, it's been a long time. It seems you've raised my son very well." Shang Yun was very pleased to see how much Piccolo cared for Gohan, even taking Gohan with him when they were trying to avoid each other.
Bick saw Shang Yun and nodded slightly, saying, "It's you! Shang Yun! When did you arrive? How come I didn't notice you? And why is your aura so weak, like you're about to die? I couldn't even sense your presence without careful observation. Are you not dying?"
"Ahem... Bick, don't worry, I'm fine. The cultivation method I practice is rather special, and my current level is not very stable." Shang Yun was too lazy to say more and gave a perfunctory explanation.
Son Gohan happily ran over and hugged Shang Yun, shouting, "Godfather!" His voice was full of joy and trust, as if Shang Yun's presence guaranteed their victory. But in an instant, his eyes filled with tears: "Godfather, why did you take so long to come back... Dad is dead..."
Shang Yun patted Son Gohan's head and comforted him, "It's alright, Master Roshi has already asked Shenron to revive your father. Hey son, you look really cool in this outfit! Do you want to be a force to be reckoned with like Uncle Piccolo? You look like a little warrior in this outfit, and I'm sure you'll perform exceptionally well in battle."
Gohan scratched his head a little embarrassedly, a blush creeping onto his face.
Just as Piccolo was watching Shang Yun comfort Gohan with a speechless expression, Vegeta and Nappa appeared in their field of vision. Piccolo's eyes instantly turned cold and sharp, like flashing stars. Shang Yun wanted to push Gohan behind him, but Gohan refused and stood resolutely between Shang Yun and Piccolo, glaring at Vegeta and Nappa.
Shang Yun looked at Son Gohan, who was different from when he was a child, and smiled with satisfaction, without saying anything more.
Vegeta and Vegeta slammed onto the ground in a show of defiance, causing the ground to shake violently and crack outwards in layers of fissures that stretched for hundreds of meters.
Vegeta, tall and arrogant, his battle armor gleaming with a chilling metallic luster under the sunlight. His eyes, like cold, icy stars, were deep and ruthless, seemingly able to see through all the weakness and insignificance in the world.
Naba was a burly and robust man with a fierce expression on his face. Every muscle seemed to tell of his brutality and power. He was like a moving mountain, exuding a suffocating sense of oppression.
"I am Vegeta, the great prince of the Saiyans, a powerful being in the universe. Today I have come to this lowly Earth to avenge Raditz. I intend to slaughter all the creatures on this planet and sell it off. If you know what's good for you, hand over the Dragon Balls obediently, and I might let you die a quick death. Otherwise, hmph!" Vegeta's voice, like a cold blade, shattered the tranquility of Earth. Every word was filled with undeniable arrogance and oppression. Nappa immediately roared, "I am Nappa, the mighty warrior of the Saiyans! You ants of Earth, prepare for destruction!"
Vegeta paused slightly when his gaze fell on Piccolo, then a playful smile appeared on his lips as he coldly said, "Hmph, judging by your appearance, green skin, wrinkled ears, and those unique tentacles, you must be a Namekian. Legend has it that Namekians possess extraordinary power, but today is your end."
Piccolo was filled with doubt upon hearing this, his brows furrowing tightly, but his eyes showed no fear. He replied in a low, firm voice, "Namekian? I don't know what you're talking about. Vegeta, stop playing games. I don't care where you're from, I'll make you pay for your arrogance. Don't think I'm someone to be trifled with!"
"Huh? Someone else is coming?!" Vegeta looked up at the sky, and the power level detector in his ear beeped.
Just as Vegeta looked up, a powerful gust of air swept down from the sky.
