Chapter 22 Jiraiya's Misunderstanding
Chapter 22 Jiraiya's Misunderstanding
Mavis and Naruto stared in disbelief at the man who had suddenly appeared before them.
The man who suddenly appeared was tall with long white hair tied back and a headband with the word "oil" written on it. He should have looked like someone with an extraordinary presence, if it weren't for the twitching and distorted expression on his face.
"Who the hell are you?!" Naruto was startled by the sudden appearance of the person in front of him, and jumped up and down as he came to his senses.
The person who appeared before Naruto and Mavis at that moment was Jiraiya, who, along with Orochimaru, was also known as one of the "Legendary Sannin of Konoha".
Meanwhile, Jiraiya was wandering around the ninja world, gathering information about Orochimaru while searching for the prophesied child mentioned by the Toad Sage.
I recently heard that Orochimaru has appeared on the border between the Wind and Fire Kingdoms. Worried that Orochimaru might be up to something again, I plan to go and investigate, and also return to Konoha.
Unexpectedly, while he was still on his way, he received an urgent order from the Third Hokage, commanding him to return to Konoha as quickly as possible.
Hiruzen Sarutobi rarely issued such urgent and forceful orders, and the specific circumstances were not detailed in the order, only that it was related to Orochimaru.
Upon receiving the Hokage's urgent order, Jiraiya recalled the information he had gathered about Orochimaru's appearance on the border of the Land of Fire. He initially thought Orochimaru had attacked Konoha or something, and his heart skipped a beat.
Jiraiya hurried back to Konoha, only to find the village as calm as ever. He breathed a sigh of relief, but a sense of unease lingered in his heart.
Just as Jiraiya was about to head to the Hokage's office to ask the Third Hokage for clarification, he saw two blond figures by the river on the way.
After taking one look, Jiraiya's gaze fell entirely on Naruto.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, this face, and this age... So this is Naruto. Jiraiya thought with a sigh.
"Teacher, this child plans to use the name of the protagonist in your novel, Naruto..."
In my memory, the blond-haired, blue-eyed disciple had a radiant smile, his eyes brimming with the tenderness and anticipation of someone about to become a father.
Kushina beside him was no longer the impulsive and clumsy girl she used to be; she radiated maternal warmth and gentleness.
Minato and Kushina, those two were practically a match made in heaven, if it weren't for the Nine-Tails' rampage...
Jiraiya was lost in his memories for the first time in a long time. After he came back to his senses, he secretly approached Naruto and Mavis, intending to make a cool entrance in front of Naruto.
As soon as they got closer, they heard Naruto calling out to another blonde girl with great emotion, "Sister, dear sister" and such.
At that moment, Jiraiya was completely stunned.
Faced with Naruto's questioning of his identity, Jiraiya completely forgot about his original plan to make a cool entrance and introduce himself.
He reached out and placed his hands on Naruto's shoulders, forcing a smile that he thought was kind but which Naruto found rather strange, and asked, "Is this girl really your older sister?"
Mavis stared blankly at the scene before her, stunned by Jiraiya's question, "Are you siblings?"
Now, seeing Jiraiya holding Naruto down and pressing him for answers again, I realized after thinking for a moment that Naruto's earlier words must have caused the misunderstanding.
After thinking it through, Mebius was at a loss for words, both laughing and crying.
She touched her forehead, though she didn't know why this man who had suddenly appeared seemed to care a lot about whether she and Naruto were siblings.
But since they can appear openly in Konoha Village without any malice, they must be Konoha ninjas.
Mavis watched the scene with amusement, and was just about to step forward to explain when Naruto broke free from Jiraiya's hands, frowned at Jiraiya, and casually said, "So what if it is? Who exactly are you?"
Mavis: "..." Isn't this just deepening the misunderstanding?
Compared to Mavis's helplessness, Jiraiya's heart was shattered.
Although she rarely returned to Konoha, Jiraiya was quite certain that Kushina only gave birth to one son, Naruto.
She's not Kushina's child, she's older than Naruto, and has long, dazzling golden hair like Minato's. Could she be Minato's illegitimate daughter, discovered later?
No way? No way!!
Jiraiya, looking dazed, turned his gaze to Mavis.
Like Minato, she has blonde hair and green eyes instead of blue, though that might be because she resembles her mother. Her temperament is also somewhat similar to Minato's—gentle and cheerful...
Jiraiya grew increasingly desperate. The bestselling romance novelist's imagination had instantly conjured up all sorts of possibilities, and suddenly everything went black before his eyes.
Kushina, I'm so sorry!! It's my fault for not being a good teacher!! Jiraiya cried out in his heart.
Just moments before, Minato's face was radiant with a gentle, sunny smile. But now, as he recalls it, a frivolous filter of a scumbag seems to gradually spread across his handsome face.

In a daze, Jiraiya seemed to hear the sound of his most perfect disciple, Minato Namikaze, beginning to crumble.
What exactly have you been doing behind my back, Minato?!
Naruto was startled to see Jiraiya kneeling on the ground, his hands supporting him, as if he had suffered some great blow, his whole body shrouded in a thick shadow.
After swallowing hard, Naruto walked over to Mavis and quietly asked, "Hey, Mavis, this person is really strange. Should we report her to the Hokage?"
Seeing Jiraiya's overly exaggerated reaction, Mavis also began to have some doubts.
Even if Naruto casually said something that made him misunderstand that he and Naruto were siblings, there's no need for such a big reaction, right?
Does he know Naruto?
Mavis glanced at Naruto with a puzzled look, only to be met with an even more confused look from Naruto.
But Naruto clearly doesn't recognize this person.
Lacking crucial information and unable to understand, Mavis glanced at Jiraiya, who was lost in his own wildly imaginative thoughts, and decided to step forward and ask for clarification.
"Hello, my name is Mavis, and that was Naruto. May I ask what brings you here?"
Upon hearing Mavis's voice, Jiraiya finally stood up, turned around, and looked at Mavis with a complex and conflicted expression.
Mavis: ? ? ? What does that expression mean?
Jiraiya looked at the puzzled girl and sighed heavily.
If I care, it seems like I'm letting Kushina down; if I don't care, she's still Minato's child.
After struggling with the decision, thinking that the child was always innocent, she asked in a low voice, "Have you always been in Konoha? Or did you come to Konoha later?"
Mavis was taken aback, thinking Jiraiya was referring to her infiltration of Konoha, and said, "I only recently arrived in Konoha because of the Demon..."
"Did they only recently come to Konoha to claim their relatives?" Jiraiya wondered.
Jiraiya sighed again, interrupting Mavis, and reached out to rub Mavis's head. He glanced at Naruto, who looked completely bewildered, and then sighed again.
Because he didn't know if the Hokage had told Naruto about Minato, and also because he wanted to find out more about Mavis's origins.
Jiraiya disregarded everything else, turned around and hurriedly left, heading to the Hokage's office to find his teacher, the Third Hokage, and ask him for clarification.
