Chapter 8 Magic Teaching
Chapter 8 Magic Teaching
Watching Sasuke meditate quietly, Zeref, who was teaching magic again after many years, leaned against a tree and suddenly felt a pang of nostalgia.
Zeref's eyes were fixed on Sasuke, but his mind was filled with images of the other three learning magic. Even now, the time he spent teaching Mavis was still a treasure to him.
Meanwhile, Sasuke, who was meditating on the ground, was not having such a smooth time. He couldn't sense the so-called magical microparticles for a long time, and Sasuke opened his eyes anxiously.
When Sasuke opened his eyes, he saw Zeref with a slight smile on his lips and a somewhat vacant look in his eyes.
He frowned and asked, "I didn't sense anything. How long will it take to successfully use magic? And what was that expression you just made? It was a bit... cheesy." Sasuke pondered for a moment and finally chose the cheesy description.
Zeref couldn't help but chuckle at Sasuke's use of the word "nauseating" to describe him, but he had to admit that Sasuke's description wasn't entirely wrong.
He smiled somewhat helplessly, "In the cultivation of magic, being impatient will only have the opposite effect. Meditation is the first and most important step. Even Mavis took several days to successfully sense magical particles."
Sasuke asked with some surprise, "Did you teach Mavis her magic as well?"
Zeref's expression was somewhat nostalgic: "That was almost a hundred years ago. Mavis had just started her adventures. Although she was still a child, she was very strong and cheerful. In order to have the power to protect others, she asked me to teach her magic..."
"What's there to miss..." Sasuke said subconsciously, but then suddenly realized something, his eyes widened instantly, and he stammered, "One, one hundred years?!"
If Sasuke had heard Zeref say he had lived for over four hundred years before, he would have thought it was a joke. But now, seeing the genuine emotions Zeref showed, Sasuke finally sensed that something was wrong.
Seeing Sasuke's wide-eyed expression, Zeref said with a hint of mischief, "You don't still think I was joking when I said I'd lived for over four hundred years, do you?"
Is this really not a joke?! After learning that Zeref and Mavis are from another world, Sasuke was once again deeply shocked.
He subconsciously said, "Then, what about Mavis?" Thinking of Mavis's appearance, which was even younger than Zeref's, and how she got along so well with Naruto and Sakura, Sasuke was speechless for a moment.
When Mavis was mentioned, Jelf's eyelashes trembled slightly, and he said almost with a sigh, "Meeting me was perhaps the most unfortunate thing for Mavis."
"Are people in your world all this long-lived?" Sasuke, who had calmed down a bit, couldn't help but ask curiously.
"No, it's just me and Mavis..." suffering such a painful curse.
He didn't reveal the second half of his sentence. Not wanting to delve deeper into the topic, Zeref turned around and slowly walked towards the center of Konoha, saying, "It's getting late, let's go back."
Sasuke was slightly taken aback as he watched Zeref's retreating figure, then belatedly realized that Zeref seemed unwilling to delve deeper into the topic.
But thinking about it, it's no wonder that humans have lived for so long; there must be some unpleasant stories behind it.
Thinking this, Sasuke silently followed behind Zeref without asking any further questions.
Although he always appears aloof and unapproachable, he is a typical Uchiha Sasuke with a more delicate and sensitive heart than most people.
Back in the bustling streets of Konoha, Zeref and Sasuke happened to run into Mavis, who had just returned from a mission.
Looking at Zeref and Sasuke, who both had black hair and black eyes and walked together, almost looking like brothers at first glance, Mavis, who had also learned about the Uchiha clan massacre from Naruto and Sakura, had a look of pity and complexity in her eyes.
At this moment, she completely understood why Sasuke was so obsessed with power, but her worries did not diminish in the slightest.
Hatred is a thorny sword; it will only wound the one who tries to wield it. Especially now that Sasuke and Zeref are so deeply involved…
Completely unaware of the turmoil Mavis was going through, Sasuke greeted her cheerfully upon seeing her: "Mavis, thank you for covering for me."
Although he didn't sense any magical particles during today's magic practice, Sasuke was still quite confident that he could learn magic now that he had mastered the method.
He glanced at the setting sun and said, "Let's go, I'll treat you to dinner."
Sasuke has been taking care of Mavis and Zeref from time to time (although most of the time it's Mavis who forcibly takes care of him), and he's been thinking about inviting Zeref and Mavis to dinner for a while now. He's even been saving up mission funds for this purpose.
Suppressing her complex emotions and realizing that it was all just her own worry, Mavis smiled and said, "Really? Thank you, Sasuke. How about we go to that sushi restaurant nearby..."
As the three were walking towards their destination, they unexpectedly ran into Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura.
Sasuke was speechless. How come he never realized Konoha was so small? He had just happened to run into Mavis on his way back, and now he had run into Naruto and Sakura.
What's even more coincidental is that Kakashi was also planning to invite Naruto and Sakura to dinner. He had originally invited Mavis as well, but Mavis was worried about Zeref and Sasuke, so she declined Kakashi's invitation after completing the mission. That's how she happened to run into Zeref and Sasuke on her way back.
Kakashi's exceptional insight allowed him to be the first of the three to spot Zeref, Mavis, and Sasuke.
Seeing Sasuke standing very close to Zeref and Mavis, clearly on good terms, Kakashi felt a sense of unease that had been creeping into his heart for some time.
Sasuke…when exactly did he become so close to Zeref and Mavis? Kakashi wondered with some confusion.
For a rare moment, the usually carefree Naruto was in sync with Kakashi's thoughts.
Sasuke, who had always acted arrogantly in front of him, strangely became somewhat "well-behaved" in front of Zeref and Mavis.
Naruto felt a chill at first, but then a strange feeling, which he himself was unaware of, welled up inside him, something like, "We've known each other longer, so our relationship should be better."
Although he hadn't yet sorted out the fleeting thought that something like a friend had been stolen from him, Naruto has always been the type to say whatever comes to mind.
As Zeref, Mavis, and Sasuke approached, Naruto couldn't help but complain, "Sasuke, you've gone too far! You skipped the mission and secretly went to train with Zeref, that's too much! At least invite Sakura and me too! I don't want to do the mission either!"
