Chapter 60 The Strongest Bodyguard
Chapter 60 The Strongest Bodyguard
The next morning.
There was a knock on the door of the West Street warehouse. Each knock was powerful, shaking the dust off the door frame.
Sosuke opened the door. A dazzling green instantly filled his field of vision.
Matt Day was wearing his signature green bodysuit with a white towel around his neck.
He stood ramrod straight, like a javelin. Behind him was a huge military backpack, large enough to easily fit two adults.
"Good morning, Mr. Sosuke!"
Dai's voice was loud and clear, even echoing, startling several birds in the empty street.
"Matt Dai, guard of the Takaya Trading Company, reporting for duty!"
He gave a thumbs up, his teeth gleaming with a passionate light in the morning sun.
Sosuke rubbed his temples.
He hadn't slept well last night. Now, seeing this man in front of him, he finally didn't have to worry about his safety anymore.
"Come in, Dai."
Sousuke stepped aside.
"Keep your voice down. We need to keep a low profile."
"Understood! Keep a low profile!"
Dai immediately lowered his voice, but it was still full of energy.
He went into the warehouse and put down the huge backpack.
thump.
The ground trembled.
Sosuke glanced at the backpack.
"What's in here?"
"Essential equipment for guards!" Dai said seriously, unpacking his backpack. "Tent, cooking utensils, three days' worth of rations, and weights!"
Sosuke remained silent for two seconds.
"Dai, I need to correct you on something."
"Your current identity is not that of a low-ranking ninja seeking survival in the wilderness, but rather that of a wealthy person's bodyguard."
Sosuke pulled a bunch of keys from his pocket and tossed them to Dai.
"There are two empty rooms next door; those are your and Kai's rooms. I've already had some toiletries prepared, so you can move in anytime."
"Also, this outfit..."
Sosuke looked the green bodysuit up and down.
These clothes might be convenient for movement on the battlefield, but they're too conspicuous in a commercial street.
As a bodyguard operating in the shadows, drawing too much attention is a major taboo.
"What's wrong with the clothes?" Dai asked, somewhat puzzled, tugging at the highly elastic fabric. "This is the best breathable material, perfect for burning with youthful energy!"
"Change it," Sosuke said without room for argument.
He took out a set of dark gray samurai clothes from the closet. The material was thick cotton and linen, which was both convenient for movement and allowed him to blend into the crowd on the street.
"Wear this while on duty."
Dai took the clothes, though he was somewhat reluctant to part with the green outfit, but he was a ninja who strictly adhered to the spirit of contracts.
"Yes! I'll follow the boss's instructions!"
After changing his clothes, Dai looked less comical and more composed and weathered.
If he doesn't speak, this middle-aged man with thick eyebrows and big eyes actually has the air of a master.
In fact, he was a master to begin with.
"Your task is simple."
Sosuke pointed around the warehouse.
"During the day, you can cultivate here or move around freely."
"You need to be vigilant at night. If anyone tries to force their way in, or attacks me..."
Sousuke's eyes turned cold.
"Break their legs. I'll take responsibility if anything happens."
Dai's expression also became serious.
"Don't worry, boss."
Dai clenched his fists, and the muscles on his arms bulged like rocks.
"Although I am not good at ninjutsu or genjutsu, as long as I stand here, no one can get past me to hurt you."
"This is a man's promise."
Might Guy changed into that dark gray samurai outfit.
This outfit suits him well. He looks as composed as a rock.
He cleared out a space in the backyard of the warehouse for his cultivation.
He didn't use any equipment. He was just making the most basic punches.
With each punch, the air produced a low, booming sound.
Sousuke sat on a chair to the side, spinning a marble in his hand, practicing the basics of the third sword.
He was also observing Dai.
Those perfectly sculpted back muscles undulated like mountains. When the thighs exerted force, the power surging through the meridians…
That is the art of honing the body to its ultimate form through decades of self-discipline.
"Boss, am I making too much noise by throwing a punch like that?"
Dai put away his stance and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"No, that's good. But let's stop for a moment." Sosuke put away the marbles.
Dai stopped what he was doing, his whole body steaming with heat.
"Boss, is there a mission?"
"Practice with me."
Sosuke took off his long robe, his arms were wrapped in bandages, and his fingertips twitched slightly.
He wanted to test where the gap between himself and top-level martial arts masters really lay.
Dai's expression turned serious. He did not look down on Sosuke just because he was the boss.
"Then please be careful, boss."
Dai struck a simple, ancient starting pose.
Sosuke took a deep breath.
[Unprinted]
Chakra exploded within his body.
Body Flicker Technique!
Even with weights strapped to his legs, he was still very fast.
His figure vanished from the spot, and the next second, he appeared to Dai's side, his five fingers joined together, stabbing straight into Dai's ribs.
The speed of this attack was enough to catch an ordinary genin off guard.
But in Dai's eyes, this attack was still too slow.
Dai's right hand shot out like lightning.
"Boss, your intentions are too obvious."
Zongsuke's pupils shrank.
So fast!
But he didn't panic.
He activated his second Body Flicker Technique. Reverse Chakra Burst!
His body slid strangely to the side and back, creating a safe distance.
"Oh?" Dai looked surprised. "That sudden stop and change of direction... Boss, your reflexes are really fast."
"Again!"
Sosuke charged forward again.
He moved quickly around Dai's body.
He used the predictive logic he learned from "The Third Sword" to find blind spots.
Dai's figure remained as steady as a mountain. He blocked all of Sousuke's attacks with just one hand.
Occasionally, there would be collisions, and Sousuke felt as if he had bumped into a piece of cast iron.
This suppression of pure strength and skill made Sosuke feel a huge gap.
But it also excited him. This was a true powerhouse.
The sparring session lasted for ten minutes.
Sosuke stopped, panting heavily.
His muscles were sore all over, a consequence of the high-frequency bursts of pain.
"Boss, you have great physical potential."
Dai walked over, his eyes filled with genuine admiration.
"Your reflexes are already beyond the level of many Chunin. All you lack is years of training."
"If you combine that with the right physical techniques, you'll be a formidable opponent."
Sousuke rubbed his wrist and said with a wry smile, "Soon? I didn't even touch a single hair on your head."
"That's because I've been training for twenty years." Dai clenched his fist. "And... my youth never stops!"
Sousuke smiled.
Indeed. This is the power accumulated over time.
With this person by his side, he had far fewer worries.
As evening fell, Xiao Kai returned from the ninja academy.
Starting today, the father and son have moved here.
Dinner was eaten in the warehouse.
Sosuke went to the market and bought the best beef, a full ten pounds. He also bought fresh vegetables, fine rice, and a large jar of warm sake.
The meat sizzled in the iron wok. The rich aroma of high-fat meat filled the air.
Dai sat at the table with his hands on his knees and his back straight, but Sosuke could see his Adam's apple bobbing violently.
Xiao Kai was even more direct, staring intently at the meat in the pot, gripping his chopsticks tightly.
"Eat."
Sosuke was the first to pick up a piece of meat and put it in his bowl.
"Dai, you are a taijutsu ninja, so your body expends more energy than the average person."
"From today onwards, your meals will be based on this standard. Meat, as much as you want."
Dai opened his mouth.
"Boss... this is too much of a waste of your money."
Beef is a luxury item.
A genin can only buy a few kilograms of beef of this quality after completing a D-rank mission.
Dai is very diligent in his tasks, but he has to raise Kai on his own.
Both father and son had huge appetites, and they also had to save money to pay rent, which made it impossible for him to save any money, so he could only live a poor life.
"Don't worry about Dai. Enjoy your meal; it's part of your job." Sosuke put down his chopsticks.
"Part of the job?"
"I hired you to buy your fighting skills. But how can you unleash powerful physical techniques without sufficient nutrition?"
Dai took a deep breath; he understood. This wasn't charity; it was a necessary expense.
"I understand! I will transform this meat into a force to protect the boss!"
Dai picked up his chopsticks and began to eat heartily.
Xiao Kai also started eating, his face covered in oil.
