Chapter 75: The Watcher in the Night
Chapter 75: The Watcher in the Night
The Mad Dragon King's mansion still looks as peaceful as ever, as if nothing has happened. But if you look closely, you'll find that... despite it being summer, there isn't a sound to be heard.
The cicadas' chirping and the frogs' croaking seemed to have disappeared, leaving only the moonlight, quietly watching everything, watching the silver-haired man standing at the gate of the mansion.
"Dragon God" Orstide, his tall figure stood here, his shadow, illuminated by the moonlight, covering the entire mansion.
"Clatter".
However, just as he shifted his feet, he seemed to sense something and turned his head to look at the girl who had landed in mid-air.
He frowned slightly, then slowly said, "Sylvania, right?"
"Alsterd, right?" Sidlin snorted coldly, her expression equally serious. Not only that, but as soon as she landed, a few drops of blood flowed from her fingertips, quietly forming a circle around the two of them on the ground.
"Is there something you need?" Alsterd asked calmly. "I remember saying... I would come to find you."
"But not now."
"Heh." Cidelina sneered, staring intently at him. "So you're here to see Chaos, right?"
"Is he one of your subordinates?"
"Of course not." Alsterd seemed to be answering every question, and he quietly looked at Cinderella and said, "I'm here to kill him."
"I can feel it." Cinderella's red, vertical pupils widened slightly, her pointed ears perked up slightly... and even the corners of her mouth revealed her sharp teeth.
Her hostile demeanor didn't seem to change Alster's attitude; he maintained the same expression, cold and serious.
After a few seconds of silence, he slowly said, "You can't stop me."
"You know that."
"Of course I know," Catherine said, flicking her right hand to the side, a few drops of blood crystallizing at her fingertips. "But I can also make it so you can't kill him."
"They can't kill me either."
"..."
Alster fell silent, looking thoughtfully at Sidrin before him.
"Chaos is technically still my friend... If you want to kill him, you might as well wait a while."
Hearing Sidrin's words, Alster remained silent. After a long silence, he abruptly said, "Friend?"
"What... do you, someone who has no friends, need someone to explain the meaning of 'friend'?"
Instead of answering the question, Alster said to himself, as if talking to himself, "He has never had any friends before."
As he spoke, he looked at Catherine, then closed his eyes slightly, and the suppressed killing intent dissipated at that moment.
Even so, Cinderella's posture remained unchanged. She held the blood essence in her hand, looked at the Dragon God, and said, "Do you remember your question from before?"
Which question?
"A god among men."
"..." Dragon God Orstide frowned the next second, staring intently at Cinderella and asking, "Have you seen him?"
"No," Cidelina replied immediately, sensing that he might make a move. "But I've heard of him."
"..." The Dragon God looked at Cidline quietly, his vertical pupils revealing no emotion.
But he didn't actually do anything; instead, he waited... He was waiting for Catherine's answer.
"I heard it from someone in the Northern Saints," Sidlin said slowly. "His name was Thorston..."
"North Saint Soston, a disciple of Alexander II, the God of the North," Orstide said in the next second.
"He was executed for assassinating the king."
Sidlin's words made Alsterd frown immediately: "He's in the Kingdom of Asura?"
"Hmm...but he's already dead." Cidlin hadn't expected the Dragon God to be so interested in...and so knowledgeable about the person she had brought up.
"..." Upon hearing this, the Dragon God remained silent, instead frowning slightly. "And then?"
"You heard the name of a god from his mouth, didn't you?"
"Hmm." Cinderella nodded slightly, but she didn't tell anyone that the god wanted to kill her and Loki... after all, she didn't trust the guy in front of her.
Human god... Dragon god... In Cinderella's eyes, neither of them were easy to get along with... One wanted to kill her and Lokishi, and the other wanted to kill Chaos...
So Catherine cautiously asked, "Do you know him?"
"..." Orstide paused for a few seconds, then said, "This is none of your business."
"But I'm telling you... if you believe what he says... then I will kill you." Although the Dragon God's tone was calm, Cidlin was certain he wasn't joking or anything... this guy really thought so.
It seems his relationship with the gods and humans isn't very good... Could it be that they had a grudge in the past?
Or maybe we should tell him a little bit of the inside story... and see if we can get some clues?
Cinderella was about to ask a few more questions when, just then, footsteps echoed from Chaos’s mansion.
Upon hearing the footsteps, the Dragon God left in the next second. His figure vanished from the spot in an instant, disappearing in a few breaths as if in a flash.
He left because of the sound of Chaos's footsteps.
"Why are you still here?" Seeing Cinderella at the door, Chaos frowned as he pushed the door open. "Are you too hungry to walk back?"
"..."
Cinderella looked at the damned guy in front of her and didn't know what to say.
However, after a few seconds of silence, she chose to smile slightly.
"It's nothing," she said. "I just think the moonlight is nice."
"?"
Chaos looked at Cidline with a puzzled expression, then said, "You're still up so late, you're really a weirdo."
"A weirdo is better than a dead man." Feeling that the Dragon God was really far away, Sidlin slowly took her first steps and left.
Watching her retreating figure, Chaos scratched his face and then went back inside.
So he must have given up, right? At least temporarily... He probably won't kill Chaos... That would be good, at least we should wait until this guy finishes making the doll, right?
As Catherine walked down the street, her face remained expressionless, but she felt a slight sense of relief inside.
Although she was confident that she could temporarily stop the Dragon God... and that she wouldn't die, if she did that... Sidrin closed her eyes slightly and sighed.
Fortunately, he didn't make a move at the time... The Dragon God was more oppressive to Cinderella than the Human God... and he even seemed more dangerous.
At the very least, the guys sent by the gods and humans were all... third-rate characters.
And this Orstide himself... is dangerous enough.
"Teacher! Phew... Phew... Teacher, are you alright... Are you okay?" At this moment, Loki's voice suddenly came, bringing Cinderella back to her senses.
Seeing her student struggling to breathe, Catherine immediately frowned.
"Didn't I tell you to go back to school?" She wanted to slap this idiot on the head.
"I...I'm afraid something might happen...sigh...I thought I'd come...to help the teacher..."
"Who can you help like this..." Seeing Loki running all the way over, Cinderella's raised head eventually turned into a pat on her head.
"Huh?"
"It's nothing," Catherine said casually. "I just forgot something."
"So...did you get it back?"
"Of course." Catherine nodded and smiled slightly. "If he doesn't give it to me, I'll just take it."
