Chapter 35: From 5 to 5 million?
Chapter 35: From 5 to 5 million?
He had just confirmed in the monitoring room that, thankfully, his 50 million yuan hadn't been killed.
So he's in a good mood right now.
It has been almost exactly five days since he set off, and he has earned fifty million in five days. He can be considered someone who earns tens of millions a day!
Tony and Ethan, however, were unaware that their savior had arrived.
Even though it's already dark, they, oblivious to day and night, are still diligently modifying their self-destructive incendiary bombs inside the cave.
It wasn't until the knocking on the iron gate that the two, engrossed in their work and oblivious to the time, stopped what they were doing and exchanged glances.
Tony: "Is it already the second day?"
Ethan: "I don't know either..."
Tony: "Go say something to stall them. I'm almost done modifying the incendiary bomb!"
Ethan: ......
"Damn it!"
Ethan cursed under his breath, then grabbed a wrench and steeled himself as he walked to the iron gate.
"No... I'm not home!"
Toby at the door: ......
"Open the door, I've come to rescue you."
Ethan was taken aback by what he heard, and then glanced out through the only window of the iron gate.
It was as if I hadn't looked at it at all; the moment I did, I saw Toby wearing a black hood and with bloodshot eyes.
This startled Ethan so much that he took two steps back.
I don't believe you for a second. What kind of good person would come to rescue someone dressed like this?
So Ethan hid by the door and shouted, "I don't believe it!"
Toby, who already had very little patience, completely lost it after hearing this.
After taking two steps back, he delivered a powerful front kick to the iron gate!
With a single, nearly 100-ton footstep from Toby, the iron gate roared and flew freely out, finally embedding itself deeply into the wall.
Fortunately, Ethan was afraid that the people outside would see the guilt on his face, so he hid on the side of the door against the wall. Otherwise, he would probably be sandwiched between the iron door and the wall by now.
Ethan was clearly surprised that Toby would break in in such an unexpected way, and was now standing there dumbfounded, holding a wrench, staring at Toby as he entered.
Toby is a master at killing, but asking him to comfort people is a different story.
So after patting Ethan on the shoulder, Toby walked over to Tony, who had already made such a commotion and was now facing away from him, seemingly busy with something.
Just as Toby was about to reach out and pat Tony on the shoulder, his spider-sense suddenly went off!
And the direction from which the danger alarm was issued was none other than Tony himself!
Realizing something was wrong, Toby didn't care whether Tony had fifty million or not, and kicked Tony in the waist with a side kick, sending him flying!
Once Tony was no longer blocking his view, Toby could see that there was a bomb on the table that was as big as a basketball!
And the bomb was just one step away from being detonated when Tony installed the activation device and set it off!
Holy crap, such a huge bomb! Is this guy planning to blow the entire cave to smithereens?
Just as Toby was marveling at the size of the bomb, he felt a faint spider-like sensation behind him.
This time, Toby caught the wrench that was smashed towards the back of his head without turning his head, and used the wrench to throw Ethan, who was attacking from behind, next to Tony, who was clutching his stomach and almost choking.
After falling to the ground, Ethan saw that although Tony's face was flushed, he was at least still breathing, and he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank goodness, Tony, I thought you were pinned to the wall by that guy, just like our iron gate!"
Tony, in so much pain he couldn't speak: ?
What did you say was embedded in the wall?
Tony, who was focused intently on the final assembly and had blocked out all external distractions, had no idea what was happening behind him.
All he wanted to do was finish assembling the incendiary bombs as soon as possible and then take away a bunch of damn terrorists!
Just as he was about to complete the final step, he was kicked in the lower back, flying three meters away, in so much pain he couldn't even speak...
However, this was already the result of Toby holding back.
Otherwise, Tony would have ended up like Ethan said, stuck in the wall like the iron gate.
Seeing that Tony and Ethan had calmed down after he physically did, Toby walked up to them and extended his hand:
"Gentlemen, I really am here to save you, so please don't react rashly, lest I overreact and cause you further injury, okay?"
Finally catching his breath, Tony forced a smile: "You came to rescue us? Why didn't you say so sooner...?"
Toby shrugged. "I told you so from the beginning, but that bald guy didn't believe me."
Upon hearing this, Tony looked at Ethan in surprise.
It's as if it's saying, "We're in this situation, why don't you believe me?"
Ethan was also wronged, pointing at the hood on Toby's face that made him look like a bad guy: "This isn't my fault! Who would dress like that, wearing a mask and covering their face like that..."
Upon hearing this, Tony smiled and patted Ethan on the shoulder:
"Ethan, you're so out of touch. These days, superheroes are all the rage in America. Most of them are like this guy, hiding their faces and doing good deeds..."
Ethan was taken aback and asked in surprise, "So now it's not just terrorists and robbers wearing masks, but also superheroes?"
This is truly an amazing sight...
Seeing that the two were still chatting, Toby couldn't help but interrupt:
"Alright, you two, we can chat in the car later. Let's get out of this damn place now, shall we?"
Tony and Ethan loved hearing this, so they immediately shut their mouths and nodded frantically at Toby.
Ethan, realizing he had misunderstood Toby, no longer harbored hostility towards him. He grabbed Toby's outstretched hand and used it to help him stand up.
However, Tony didn't reach for Toby's other hand. Instead, he endured the pain in his lower back and used the wall to help him get up.
After Tony climbed up the wall and stood up, he didn't forget to explain something to Toby:
"Don't get me wrong, buddy, I'm not against you. I just don't like interacting with strangers. It's a quirk, you know..."
In response, Toby couldn't help but joke:
"A quirk? I imagine your quirk of disliking contact with people disappears automatically when you see a beautiful woman, and you might even want to have close contact with her, right?"
Tony didn't deny Toby's words, but winked and said with a flippant smile, "Who isn't?"
Women and alcohol are always the best tools for men to build closer relationships.
Therefore, after exchanging a few words about women, Tony's subconscious resistance to Toby lessened considerably, and he smiled:
"By the way, buddy, who sent you to rescue me, the military, or Stark Industries?"
Toby slowly shook his head: "No, it's your personal assistant, Ms. Pepper Potts. She entrusted me with all her savings to save you, you dissolute playboy..."
Upon hearing this, Tony was stunned and stood there for a long time, unable to recover.
He never imagined that, in the moment when he needed help the most, the one who would bring him light would not be the company he had painstakingly built, nor the military that had brought him to this predicament, but simply one of his personal assistants.
After a long silence, a genuine, warm smile finally appeared on Tony's lips: "How foolish of you to spend your life savings on a man whose fate is unknown, Pepper..."
"But I won't let you waste this money. When I get back, I'll make it up to you tenfold, a hundredfold!"
Ten times, a hundred times?
That would be five hundred million or five billion.
Is there such a good thing?
Hearing Tony's words, Toby couldn't help but interject:
"Since you've brought up compensation for Ms. Pepper Potts, let me add that your net worth is far more than fifty million. When Ms. Pepper Potts commissioned you, she also said that if you were still alive, you would have to give me an additional fee."
Upon hearing this, Tony smiled confidently: "I'll give you five hundred million too!"
Toby, hidden behind the mask, gasped.
Five hundred million?
Fifty million is just a target for me, but five hundred million means you're my boss!
