Chapter 29 The Wrath of the Warring States Period
Chapter 29 The Wrath of the Warring States Period
Akainu immediately stood up, preparing to leave the meeting room.
Sengoku found Akainu's behavior quite perplexing.
Sengoku said to Akainu, who had just stood up, "Sakazuki, where are you going? The meeting isn't over yet!"
Akainu responded directly to Sengoku's question, "The Navy's prestige has been severely damaged. I need to deal with those stubborn pirates and those who have neglected their duties and damaged the Navy's prestige."
Akainu's words shocked all the generals present. They thought to themselves, "As expected of Sakazuki."
Aokiji couldn't sit still after hearing Sakazuki's words and quickly stood up, saying to Akainu, "Sakazuki, you're going too far. Smoker is a Marine Admiral, after all. How can you execute him so easily?"
Upon hearing Aokiji's words, Akainu instantly flew into a rage: "Isn't it all because of that piece of trash Smoker that our Navy's reputation has been affected? If we don't execute him, then anyone can desert their post, and the Navy will be in chaos!"
Aokiji was speechless after being rebuked by Akainu's words, but he still slowly said, "If you want to execute Smoker, you'll have to get past me first." After saying that, Aokiji's amazing aura was unleashed once again.
Seeing that Aokiji was about to attack him again, Akainu roared, "Fine, fine, fine!"
"I've disliked you for a long time; you always target me!"
"Since that's the case, let's settle this now!"
After Akainu finished speaking, his body instantly erupted with a powerful aura. If Aokiji dared to make a move, he would teach Aokiji a lesson today. Otherwise, he would have already had enough of Aokiji's constant nagging.
The other vice admirals were speechless when they saw Akainu and Aokiji about to start fighting again. Hadn't they just calmed down? Why were they about to start fighting again now?
Sure enough, the enraged voice of the Warring States period rang out again in an instant.
"You two bastards, are you really going to do this? We're in the conference room right now! Are you going to start a fight?"
"This is utterly absurd! Do you realize that if the two of you were to fight here today, tomorrow morning's newspapers would be filled with headlines like, 'Shocking! Naval Admirals at odds, suspected fierce battle!'"
"Wouldn't it be better if the whole ocean knew about your great battle?!"
Hearing Sengoku's incredibly furious voice surprised even the other generals who were watching the drama unfold.
Although Sengoku had been angry about the previous events concerning Loguetown, he was not as furious as he was now.
Clearly, Akainu and Aokiji have truly enraged Fleet Admiral Sengoku.
Seeing that the atmosphere was getting increasingly tense, Staff Officer He spoke up at this moment.
"Alright, Sakazuki and Kuzan, you two can leave now! We'll let you know about Loguetown after our meeting."
Seeing that Sengoku and Advisor Tsuru had both spoken, Akainu took the opportunity to back down.
Akainu slowly withdrew the powerful aura emanating from his body, giving Aokiji a deep look. He then calmly addressed the Marine admirals, saying, "Then I shall take my leave."
After saying that, Akainu turned and left the meeting room without even glancing at Aokiji again.
Clearly, his conflict with Aokiji had escalated again. He was too lazy to waste any more words with Aokiji; from now on, they'd just settle things with their fists!
After Akainu left, Aokiji also withdrew his imposing aura, said, "Then please excuse me," and left the conference room.
Sengoku felt truly helpless seeing Akainu and Aokiji leave.
Both were admirals in the navy, but their differing ideologies led to a bitter rivalry.
The other generals had different expressions. They did not expect that the battle between Akainu and Aokiji would end so hastily. It was really not satisfying.
Kizaru, however, remained completely unmoved, concentrating on trimming his nails as if the matter had no effect on him whatsoever.
Garp was even more baffling; he fell asleep while eating senbei, completely missing Akainu and Aokiji's renewed argument.
All I can say is that this is very Garp-esque.
Sengoku, regaining his senses, looked at his generals with a sense of helplessness. Even if other powers on the high seas didn't know about what had happened today, many people in the navy would likely find out.
Sighing, Sengoku thought to himself, "I really envy Garp. He doesn't have to worry about anything. I should never have become the Fleet Admiral."
Ah!
Garp! Sengoku suddenly remembered that Akainu and Aokiji were about to have a big fight, but why was Garp completely silent?
Sengoku, puzzled, glanced at Garp.
Then I saw Garp eating senbei and falling asleep.
???
At this moment, Zhan Guo felt extremely resentful. "I'm here dealing with all this mess, while you're sleeping soundly."
This is intolerable!
Sengoku, thinking of this, shouted angrily again, "Garp, wake up! The meeting is still going on! And you're asleep!"
The others, hearing Sengoku's angry shouts again, also turned their gazes toward Vice Admiral Garp's position.
It turned out that Vice Admiral Garp had fallen asleep at some point, and was holding a senbei (rice cracker) in his hand.
This outrageous scene instantly caused the generals' mouths to twitch. They secretly admired him; no wonder he was Lieutenant General Garp!
Hearing Sengoku's roar, Garp also woke up from his sleep. When he saw everyone looking at him, he wasn't embarrassed at all. Instead, he laughed loudly and said, "Sengoku, are you eating?! Thanks for reminding me!"
Garp's words made the vice admirals want to laugh, but considering that Fleet Admiral Sengoku had already been angry many times today, they dared not laugh, though they couldn't control the expressions on their faces.
Our Admiral Kizaru, witnessing this bizarre scene with Garp, muttered in admiration, "As expected of Vice Admiral Garp! Truly terrifying!"
Sengoku was so angry with Garp that he was speechless. He was completely rendered speechless by his old comrade-in-arms Garp once again.
Staff Officer He shook his head helplessly at Garp's actions, then said again, "Garp, you can step down now! We'll let you know after the meeting."
Upon hearing what Advisor Tsuru said, Garp was not saddened at all, but rather delighted, and quickly asked, "Really? Then I'll be going now."
Staff Officer He nodded, indicating that he could leave.
After confirming, Garp burst into laughter again, completely ignoring Sengoku who was about to unleash the Great Buddha Shockwave.
Seeing that Sengoku was about to lose his temper, Staff Officer Tsuru spoke up again, "Garp, you should leave first! Maybe the cafeteria will really open for lunch!"
Upon hearing the words of Advisor Tsuru, Garp immediately stood up from his seat, muttering, "We really need to hurry, or I won't be able to eat."
And so, the carefree Garp left the conference room without a second thought, ignoring the rest of the Navy.
After seeing that the troublemakers had all left, Zhan Guo breathed a sigh of relief.
But he still muttered under his breath, "What kind of people are these? I can't stay in this marshal's position any longer."
