Chapter 35: A Brand New Beginning
Chapter 35: A Brand New Beginning
Three days later, on the basement floor, Su Qin's corpse suddenly twitched slightly. A few seconds later, his eyes suddenly opened, and his body suddenly sat up straight.
Color gradually appeared in his previously lifeless pupils, and his eyeballs began to move slightly.
"I'm not dead yet?"
Having just regained consciousness, Su Qin still felt a little dizzy and hadn't quite figured out what was going on.
His previously stagnant mind began to race, recalling past events.
Suddenly, he seemed to remember something, reached out and ripped the monocle off his eye socket, threw it heavily to the ground, and stared at the monocle on the ground with an uncertain look in his eyes.
He remembered that he had put on the monocle, and his mind had been invaded by the strange power of the monocle. And then, nothing more happened.
"What's going on now?"
The monocle that I couldn't take off before can now be easily removed.
But in his vision, the pale yellow thread on the monocle was connected to his head, wrapping around him in circles.
Su Qin felt around on his body, checking his condition, and finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"Phew~ Thankfully, nothing serious happened. I don't know if it's because there were no side effects or because it was too subtle."
He felt perfectly normal now, even more energetic and powerful than before he became a demon tamer.
But when he touched his shirt pocket, he found it bulging, as if there was something inside, even though he remembered that there was nothing in it.
He reached out and touched it, feeling a cool sensation on his hand, and immediately knew what it was.
He pulled a monocle made of crystal from his pocket, exactly the same as the one he had thrown away earlier.
Looking down at the ground, there was no longer any discarded monocle.
"This thing seems to have gotten stuck with me; I can't get rid of it. Does that mean I've got it under my control?"
Since he couldn't throw it away, he accepted it gladly. Su Qin carefully put the monocle on his eye socket.
It still had that cool touch, nothing else was wrong. This time he waited for a long time, but the same abnormal phenomenon did not occur. His head didn't hurt, and he was perfectly fine.
"Next, we should try it out and see what this new supernatural phenomenon can do."
However, it seems there are no suitable test subjects!
The supernatural ability of foreigners to create clones is exactly what Su Qin needs right now. Although he has now mastered the source of this supernatural power, he doesn't have a suitable test subject.
There is a test subject, but it is very risky. If we are not careful, we may go too far and cause unnecessary trouble.
After hesitating for a moment, Su Qin decided to give it a try. After all, the ghost wasn't that terrifying, and even if it went out of control, he had ways to limit it.
Su Qin opened the body bag beside him, inside was the corpse of a monk. He exposed the corpse's head, preparing for the next experiment.
Su Qin originally possessed the supernatural ability to capture consciousness, but his ability was essentially to dissect consciousness.
Even if only a small part is dismembered, it will cause a person to lose a piece of memory and thoughts. Severe loss of consciousness can lead to loss of the ability to act and think, or even death.
He put his hand into his head. He was a little worried about the ghost hand, since it was his own consciousness. If something went wrong with the ghost hand, he would be doomed.
He often puts his hands into his head, and now he's quite experienced; his head is unlike anyone else's.
His skull was empty; all the bones and brain tissue were gone, never since he first controlled the vengeful spirit.
It was replaced by a pitch-black ghost skull.
It has to be said that supernatural power is just that strange; even with everything inside someone's head replaced, they can still live like a normal person.
I don't know if this situation qualifies as being an outlier.
His hand touched the ghost skull, but he didn't stop, continuing to reach inside. His consciousness was all inside the skull, but he couldn't see what was happening inside his own head.
If he could see it, he would be surprised to find that the right eye socket of that dark skull was adorned with a strange monocle, emitting a faint, eerie glow.
His hand gradually touched a large, unidentified object. It was warm, without that eerie, cold feeling. He gently grabbed a handful and tore off a small piece from it.
The expected severe pain did not occur. I only felt a cool sensation in my head, without any discomfort, mental stagnation, or even memory loss.
Su Qin successfully extracted the consciousness from the head without any unexpected events, physical discomfort, or abnormalities, and his mind remained clear.
But when he saw what he was holding, his eyes were filled with surprise. It was not what he had imagined. He had thought that his consciousness would be the same as other people's consciousness, a transparent, unidentified object.
But the one that was picked out by hand was different; its color was fairly normal, very similar to the others, only leaning more towards grayish-black.
The key point is the shape; it's clearly the outline of a skull, only much smaller than a normal skull, about the size of a fist.
The skull's eye sockets were set with a pair of gray-black eyes, somewhat like they were made of stone. A gray monocle was perched on the right eye socket, exactly the same as the one Su Qin wore.
"Could it be because I am controlling a supernatural entity that protects consciousness, so this separated consciousness is still protected by the supernatural entity?"
Or is this phenomenon caused by the supernatural power of the monocle?
Su Qin's original plan was to put this consciousness into a monocle, put the monocle on the test subject, and use the monocle's property of returning to itself to achieve the desired effect. However, it seems that this is not necessary now.
The monk's corpse, with only one head exposed, trembled slightly, as if a vengeful ghost was about to rise again.
Su Qin reacted swiftly, grabbing the consciousness in his hand and reaching into the corpse's head. He stirred it around inside, finding nothing suspicious, before pulling his hand back.
Su Qin patiently waited for the monk's corpse to change, keeping a close eye on its every move. If anything seemed amiss, he would immediately re-lock it up.
The pocket was twitching slightly, and the corpse seemed to be raising its hands.
This ghost seems to kill people by clapping its hands. The foreign devil had clapping several times before, but Su Qin stopped him in time, so he never got to see it all.
It moved; the corpse's hands were raised, exhibiting the appropriate movement of hands.
But the problem is, where would you find a ghost that starts attacking as soon as it recovers?
Do they not need to trigger any murder patterns?
Or perhaps it has already been triggered, but you just didn't notice it.
Su Qin had no intention of waiting any longer. Although the ghost's level of terror didn't seem high, who would dare to gamble?
The supernatural phenomena of vengeful ghosts are incredibly diverse. Who knows what might happen if one of them takes a selfie with both hands? Some C-level vengeful ghosts' supernatural attacks might even be able to restrain S-level vengeful ghosts.
Moreover, Su Qin is not some S-class vengeful ghost; his body is that of a living person. If he is not careful, any supernatural attack could take his life.
Su Qin raised his hand and immediately grabbed the head of the corpse, trying to restrain it.
But while his hand was still in mid-air, the corpse suddenly opened its eyes.
"Stop, stop, stop! Don't be so quick to act! You're so easily teased!"
The sudden voice startled Su Qin, making his hair stand on end.
The vengeful ghost spoke?
Could it be that my reckless attempts caused an unknown change in the ghost's supernatural abilities, resulting in a terrifying and intelligent ghost?
Just as Su Qin was shocked, the corpse that had spoken raised his hand, holding a monocle in his hand, and put the monocle on his eye socket before Su Qin's hand could land on his head.
Su Qin immediately stopped moving, unsure whether to advance or retreat. He was unsure of the current situation and could only watch helplessly as the corpse underwent further changes.
The corpse's flesh was writhing strangely, and in the blink of an eye, it completely changed into a young man with short, jet-black hair. Su Qin was particularly familiar with that face.
That was clearly his own face.
Even so, Su Qin did not pull his hand back. It remained one centimeter away from the other person's head, ready to grab the other person's head at any moment.
He still dared not let his guard down. He had already suffered enough losses, and in the face of such an unpredictable situation, it was best to be extra careful.
The corpse that had transformed into Su Qin's appearance paid no attention to Su Qin's actions and reached out to pull at the body bag covering its body.
"Don't just stand there, you're really slow to react. You are me, and I am you."
"Hey! This thing is the medium. My supernatural connection with yours is undeniable!"
The Su Qin who had been transformed from a corpse pushed up his monocle and pointed to the yellow thread that was invisible to the naked eye.
Su Qin then noticed some subtle changes; the two medial lines on his body seemed to have become darker, turning a deep yellow.
The medium wire wrapped around the monocle connects to himself at one end and to the person opposite him at the other.
He finally felt relieved; with this medium in place, he could finally believe that his attempt had truly succeeded.
No action or word is as persuasive as this supernatural medium.
Through this medium, his vision broadened, seemingly allowing him to invade the clone's field of vision.
This must have been due to some unknown change that occurred after using that monocle.
That foreign devil probably didn't possess these supernatural abilities, otherwise his supernatural abilities would have been thoroughly studied by that foreign devil long ago.
After infiltrating this medium, Su Qin suddenly realized that his hands seemed to be changing as well.
A chilling sensation spread through my arms; it was a dark green ligature that had invaded through the monocle.
Being able to utilize the supernatural abilities within a clone—wouldn't that be considered a form of control?
Will this disrupt the existing balance?
He didn't blindly try this unfamiliar supernatural phenomenon, because his clone had already provided the answer.
"Don't worry! You'll be fine. The problem is with me!"
The source of that supernatural force is in my body. The medium that invaded your body was only a derivative supernatural force. The intensity of the supernatural force in your body is far greater than that supernatural force, so there shouldn't be any problem.
It seems I can only access a portion of the supernatural power within you through a medium; the exact strength is hard to judge. Right now, the three supernatural forces within me are in perfect balance.
However, if the original supernatural force within the body malfunctions, the vengeful spirit might resurface, and what would happen then is unknown.
