Chapter 305 The Origin of Spiders
Chapter 305 The Origin of Spiders
Otto Octavia is being transferred to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Although he openly hurled insults at Norman Osborn while revealing most of his plans, the Avengers don't seem to believe him and decide to take him to the White Queen at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters to continue searching for deeper information through telepathy.
Otto waited nonchalantly for the impending trial, but in the car, a police officer tossed him a cell phone that was already connected and playing on speakerphone.
"Otto Octavia, my old friend, my best old buddy, you've really surprised me."
The voice on the other end of the phone enraged Otto, who almost immediately roared, "Norman Osborn!"
"Looks like you've made quite a few new friends, haven't you? You hacked into our company's computers and prepared a video that wasn't fake at all, and I couldn't see any flaws in it, all to frame me. Then, with the Pentagon having invested in Osborn Technologies, it can legitimately continue to exert pressure and take the Savage Force project from me. You'll take over, right? What a revenge drama."
"I certainly didn't expect Spider-Man to be there, or that he would have grown so quickly that I couldn't handle him anymore, but it was just an accident. If it weren't for Spider-Man, you would be a piece of trash that everyone hates today, Norman."
"Very interesting, because there's a recording on my computer of you telling my employee about your evil plan and then altering all his data." Sitting in his office, Norman smiled as he uttered words that silenced Otto. After a long pause, Otto managed a dry laugh: "Truly... as expected of you, Norman."
"You must think I'm stupid, right? A security system that's prepared but completely ineffective against you, a central computer running on your own low-level programming, always cramming all sorts of labs into headquarters so you can easily find all of Osborn Technologies' high-tech equipment and take it down. Oh, scorpion serum, rhinoceros skin, Mysterio's brainwave amplification device, and of course, Connors's little lizards. My Osborn Technologies is truly a treasure trove, isn't it?"
Otto remained silent for a long time before finally asking, "Were you waiting for me?"
"Who has time to wait for you? I'm waiting for the Pentagon. Richard Parker used his genius to activate and modify the Savage Force Super Soldier project, which had been rejected by Nathaniel Essex. He changed the original plan to create 'Super Animal Soldiers' to create 'Super Soldier Animal Serum'."
Norman stated his purpose in a cold tone: "And he did all of this at Osborn Technologies, and even after he left, he left all of this behind. Of course, his initial idea wasn't really to create super soldiers; he wanted to achieve the greatest feat of a scientist: to become God."
"To become God..." Otto murmured to himself, which is not hard to understand. For a long time, biology, especially genetic biology, has dreamed of becoming God. In the Bible, God created all life, and because of this, by accomplishing the great feat of creating life, he became God.
So people started cloning, started in vitro fertilization, and began to gradually strip God of the privilege of creation. In the end, what humanity wants to achieve is to create a completely new species, or even a completely independent and new ecosystem, and to completely declare that it has obtained God's achievement.
However, Osborne discovered the connection between this project and the Savage Force project that Nathaniel Essex had abandoned years earlier. He then chose to invest early, taking control of the entire project. Subsequently, he negotiated with the Pentagon and obtained the development rights for the entire project, thereby securing funding from the Pentagon.
"But will the Pentagon really allow a super-soldier program that they can't control to continue?"
Osborne laughed.
The creation of Peter Parker, or Spider-Man, has never been an exception. Richard Parker is a genius, but also a madman. When he began to envision using gene editing technology to fuse animal genes with human gene sequences, he did not consider how to achieve it on a large scale.
He chose to start with a single human gene, creating a modified animal that perfectly matched that person's genes, and then expanding to others. He chose his own gene sequence and created a genetically modified spider that best matched his own DNA sequence.
In other words, the most perfect Spider-Man should be Richard Parker, but he is already dead, and the Spider-Man designed later is just a copy designed by Jonathan Drew.
Norman needed a super soldier for his plans, so he sent people to persuade Peter Parker's middle school to hold the technology exhibition. He originally planned to rely on the vanity and youthful arrogance of young people to cultivate a superhero controlled by Osborn technology. Unexpectedly, Peter Parker was much more self-aware than he thought, which of course brought a lot of trouble.
The person named Silk was the real accident, but S.H.I.E.L.D. still helped him out.
"When Spider-Man appears, the Pentagon will realize that I can actually create super soldiers. What will they think? They'll want to take it into their fold. They won't just confiscate my project because they know that it's scientists, not a few animals, who actually accomplish all of this. So, from that moment on, I knew the Pentagon would intervene in various ways. Taking a stake in Osborn Technologies was just one simple way they could think of."
"So you did all this to counter the Pentagon?"
"Countering the Pentagon? Why would I go against the highest authority in the country? I just can't accept the decline in Osborne Technologies' stock price and hostile takeover. My conditions are very low; I only need a good price."
Norman placed his hand on the call-stop button. Before hanging up, he said his last words to his old friend from when he started the business: "So, I've made arrangements with the Pentagon. Old friend, thank you for helping me get a favorable bargaining chip."
"May you rest in peace."
With a gunshot, a bullet pierced Otto Octavia's brain inside the police car. After the car came to an abrupt stop, several officers hurriedly got out to check the situation and confiscated his cell phone.
On a distant building, a man wearing a bullseye mask holstered his sniper rifle. He had fallen from a great height during his fight with Daredevil, breaking every bone in his body. Now, Bullseye had reconstructed his skeleton with adamantium, returning as the most skilled assassin.
Doctor Octopus was just his first job.
The logic might be a little flawed?
Thank you to the boss who laughed and asked the heavens for the 33 monthly tickets. The boss is so generous!
