Chapter 1 Oath
Chapter 1 Oath
Chapter 1 Oath
A small grove of trees north of the White Tiger Duke's mansion.
A thin, frail little boy gripped a sharp dagger tightly, frantically digging at the dirt. His already shabby patched clothes were now covered in spots and black marks.
Beside the pit he had dug, the pale body of a woman lay silently.
That was his mother's remains.
Huo Yuhao, that's his name in this life. Originally, he should have been surnamed Dai, but after he learned about his origins, he never wanted to use that surname again.
The surname Dai disgusted him.
In his previous life, he was an orphan. His parents died in a car accident when he was eight years old, and he was then sent to an orphanage by his relatives.
He grew up alone and destitute, only to be diagnosed with a terminal illness, thus meeting the end of his life prematurely.
He still remembered when he first opened his eyes, his mother in this life looked at him with kind eyes, and an orphan had someone he could call "mother" again.
He swore.
He vowed never to let his mother suffer any harm.
However, he had to break his promise. The huge ducal mansion was mostly filled with indifferent bystanders, and the few remaining were the perpetrators. Anyone who dared to help the mother and son would be targeted by the duchess.
He still remembered the woman he met when he was seven, and the boy he should have called his younger brother.
He only gave them a little bit of help and then never saw them again, while his and his mother's situation continued to deteriorate.
He knew this was the Duchess's revenge.
He was filled with such hatred! He wished he could slaughter the entire Duke's mansion, leaving no one alive!
But right now he's just a Soul Master, he doesn't even have a Soul Ring.
Thinking of this, Huo Yuhao slammed his fists on the ground, and the sharp dagger pierced straight into the soil.
His short black hair was matted with sweat, obscuring his deep blue eyes, which were filled with intense killing intent and overflowing rage.
He dug for some time, until sunset and moonrise, and as night deepened, the small pit that could barely hold his mother's body was finally formed.
Huo Yuhao crawled out of the pit, covered in mud. He looked up at the clear night, where stars and the moon shone together, their silvery light flowing down, and the windless forest was silent.
From this day forward, his corner of this vast world will cease to exist.
He approached his mother's body expressionlessly, knelt down, picked her up, and carried her step by step to the resting place he had prepared for her.
The little boy, ignored by everyone, dragged his mother into the tomb and buried her little by little with soil. Finally, he made a small wooden plank as his mother's tombstone, which read "Tomb of Huo Yun'er".
When it was all over, Huo Yuhao was exhausted. He curled up and fell asleep in front of his mother's grave, as if this were his home.
No, this was his home, the cold ducal mansion, where everyone except the woman and his son was his enemy.
The windless forest was silent, the stars and moon resonated, and a silvery light suddenly burst forth for a moment. The next instant, a silver ball of light floated out of the tomb and swiftly struck Huo Yuhao's brow.
A vertical eye, engraved with the divine symbols of the sun, moon, and stars, suddenly opened. Its amethyst pupil shimmered with a golden and silver brilliance, and the surrounding woods and tombstones were veiled in a luxurious purple light, as if foreshadowing the arrival of some divine miracle.
Huo Yuhao slowly opened his eyes. Above a small golden lake hung a huge amethyst gate, engraved with a massive Three Stars Divine Pattern, radiating an ancient and majestic aura.
He probably knew that this was his spiritual sanctuary.
He had just been forced to wake up when a silver ball of light suddenly rushed into his mind and awakened the door.
This door, which appeared at the same time as his martial spirit awakened, is the giant door that split his spiritual sea into two.
Originally, his soul power should have been higher, at least not level one. He knew very well that he had been learning to catch fish in the river since he could remember, so his body was not that bad.
However, the existence of this giant gate caused some problems with his martial soul awakening, even splitting off half of his spiritual sea, which made his body increasingly weak.
His mother passed away so early because she was taking care of him; he is only eight years old this year.
Thinking about these things now is useless. Huo Yuhao has long since learned to accept reality and is now desperately trying to seize every opportunity he can.
This is probably his cheat code, and he needs this power to help him achieve his revenge.
Huo Yuhao did not hesitate any longer. Complaining about the current situation was not in his nature. He walked to the giant door, gently pushed it with his hand, and the two doors suddenly opened. A terrifying suction force undeniably swallowed him into it.
When he opened his eyes again, an endless deep purple void came into view, with three enormous divine palaces floating in it.
In front of each shrine stands a huge archway, inscribed with the words "Sun-Yo Shrine," "Star-Yo Shrine," and "Moon-Yo Shrine" in seal script.
Huo Yuhao calmed his heart, which was already in a state of utter shock, and slowly took two steps forward. The ball of light that had entered his sea of consciousness was right in front of him.
Without hesitation, he gently touched it with his hand, and a warm and familiar feeling rippled out from the bottom of his heart, an emotion without a trace of pretense completely enveloping him.
This is his mother's soul.
Huo Yuhao could no longer suppress his emotions, and his spiritual power transformed into golden teardrops that trickled down.
In the boundless void, a frail little boy clung to a silver ball of light, weeping bitterly. The three divine palaces and countless stars twinkled gently, as if comforting the last vestige of tenderness in the lonely child's heart, which had hardened to the point of steel.
After an unknown amount of time, the child, exhausted from crying, fell peacefully asleep. His furrowed brows relaxed slightly, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
The three divine palaces and the starry sky seemed to have found their satisfaction, ceasing their twinkling. Instead, the stars began to revolve, and a deep purple light converged into a jade slip that flew into Huo Yuhao's brow. Within the purple halo, golden and silver starlight rippled gently, expelling all impurities from his body.
A night and a day passed quietly, the sun set again, the stars and moon twinkled, and the little child in front of the small grave frowned and slowly opened his eyes.
Huo Yuhao sat up and suddenly felt sticky and smelly all over. He suppressed the urge to rush to the river to take a bath, knelt down in front of his mother's tombstone and kowtowed three times respectfully. Then he stood up and solemnly made a vow.
"I, Huo Yuhao, will make Dai Hao wish he were dead! I will exterminate the Duchess and her children! I will send everyone who has wronged my child and me to hell! This oath is sworn by heaven and earth, and witnessed by the sun and moon. If I do not avenge this, may I be struck by lightning and my soul be scattered to the winds!"
