Chapter 43 You Saved Me
Chapter 43 You Saved Me
In a state of intense excitement and stimulation, Lucas gripped his maple wand tightly, as if he could hear his own heart pounding from within it.
It was just as excited as it was. It yearned for challenges and adventures.
But buddy, I'm so sorry, I don't know magic yet, so please bear with me for now.
I can only use the Muggle way—
Seeing Tonks knocked to the ground, Lucas gripped the handle of the cart tightly.
"Die, you meddlesome idiot!"
Just as Tonks, who had been knocked to the ground by the explosion, raised his head, he saw the wand in the bearded man's hand once again radiate a dazzling light!
Tonks felt a chill run down her spine; the shadow of death loomed over her, and for a moment her mind went blank.
Then, the bearded man suddenly noticed the movement behind him, turned around abruptly without thinking, and shot out a spell from his hand, hitting the cart that had just started to move!
With a loud bang, all the layers of wooden boards and metal plates on the pushcart stall were blown to pieces!
Lucas was still hiding behind the cart, holding a pot of hot oil, planning to distract the bearded man with the cart before launching a surprise attack. But the powerful explosion threw him away, the pot of oil flying from his hand, the boiling oil splashing directly onto his body, instantly causing large blisters. The excruciating pain made him cry out loudly.
"Foolish!" the bearded man scoffed.
He was about to flick his wand again when he heard a whooshing sound as several spells shot towards him!
Amidst a series of crackling sounds, many wizards cloaked in protective capes suddenly appeared in the air, and goblin guards rushed out of Gringotts.
The bearded man swung his wand to block the attack, then without uttering a single harsh word, he instantly Apparated and vanished. Almost simultaneously, the arriving wizards raised their wands and cast Anti-Apparition Charms, but they only managed to block a wisp of air, and couldn't help but curse.
Tonks leaped to his feet and rushed to Lucas, who was groaning in pain on the ground.
"Hey! What's wrong with you—"
When Tonks saw Lucas's appearance clearly, his heart clenched. Lucas's body was covered in red, peeling skin, and a series of dense blisters were a shocking sight.
"Good heavens! I need to send you to San Mungo right now!"
......
As a result, Lucas didn't make it to St. Mungo's. The gathered Aurors and strikers noticed Lucas's situation, and one Auror handed him a large jar of thick, orange-yellow ointment.
"This is a burn ointment; just apply it and it will heal. His injuries weren't caused by magic, so there's no need to go to St. Mungo's."
The Auror smiled bitterly as he looked at the blood-stained, chaotic street and the wounded wizards lying on the ground in Gringotts.
"Besides, St. Mungo's going to be very busy now, so you don't need to join in the fun."
Tonks took the ointment and squatted down. She hurriedly helped Lucas up, but her hand touched his skin.
"Ah!" Lucas cried out in pain, and Tonks quickly apologized.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
She yanked Lucas away, and Lucas, who hadn't even settled in his seat, immediately fell to the ground.
"ah--!!!"
Lucas nearly fainted from the pain of having his blistered skin rubbed against the ground.
Fortunately, Tonks finally thought of something and waved his wand to levitate Lucas.
"Please!" Lucas hissed, forcing the words out through clenched teeth, "Be careful—hiss!"
As a result, Tonks had already smeared a huge blob of ointment on it, and Lucas's eyes widened, but he fell silent in pain.
Is this girl really that reckless? Are we really going to die in her hands today?
But after a searing pain, Lucas suddenly felt a cooling sensation spreading from where the ointment had been, and his skin immediately regained its feel, which was enough to prove the ointment's miraculous effect.
"Miss Tonks, if you don't mind, I need to ask you to use some kind of magic to help me take off my shirt," Lucas said breathlessly. "My upper body was splashed with boiling oil and it's stuck to my clothes. I need to apply this ointment."
Tonks held the ointment and watched as the blisters on Lucas's arm shrank and disappeared, and the redness and ulceration visibly healed. Finally, he felt relieved and let out a long sigh of relief.
She immediately regained her lively personality and giggled, "Leave it to me, my savior, little brother."
Before she finished speaking, she had already grabbed Lucas by the collar and waved her wand.
"Zoom in quickly!"
The entire garment rapidly expanded, and Tonks ripped it off as if tearing off a blanket.
Before Lucas could even cry out in pain, Tonks had already smeared a large amount of ointment onto his wound.
hiss--
As Lucas gasped, Tonks's fair face was full of smiles.
"Do I need to take my pants off, little brother?"
Lucas hurriedly shook his head, and Tonks let out a string of silvery laughter, his violet hair suddenly turning into a bubblegum pink.
Damn, I got teased by this recent graduate.
"Miss Tonks, who exactly was that bearded man just now?" Lucas changed the subject.
Tonks suddenly became serious: "I don't know. He knows me, but I don't recognize his face. He must have used the compound decoction... but that's not right either."
"I read in a book that Gringotts has a lot of protective magic, including a thief-proof waterfall that can break Polyjuice Potion. I wonder how he did it."
"In short, he is extremely powerful. Most of his spells are silent, yet incredibly powerful! He is also incredibly swift. I can't think of anyone I know who is such a powerful dark wizard."
She looked up and saw a large group of pale-faced wizards and goblins pouring out of Gringotts, talking noisily with the Aurors who had come to help.
"No matter what, with something this serious happening, the Ministry of Magic will definitely do everything in its power to apprehend them. This is really serious; Gringotts' business will be greatly affected."
"Miss Tonks..." Lucas wanted to ask more, but Tonks interrupted him.
"Just call me Tonks." She then remembered to ask, "Little brother, what's your name?"
......
The conversation with Tonks didn't last long before an Auror came and took the two away for questioning, and a skilled healer treated Lucas's remaining injuries.
As darkness fell, Lucas recounted everything he had witnessed and was escorted back to the Leaky Cauldron by an Auror. Tonks, having directly confronted the dark wizard, was kept behind for detailed documentation.
"Mr. McGregor," the Auror said, "you are an important witness, and we may need your cooperation in our investigation at any time. Please provide your home address; staff will come to your door."
Lucas said he had been staying at the Leaky Cauldron for some time, and with the owner Tom corroborating, the Auror left.
Lucas had just exchanged a few words with Tom when he heard that Hagrid and Harry had questioned the Auror and found out that he was alright, just taken away for questioning, but they didn't know when he would be back. So the two of them had to leave first.
Just then, they heard thumping sounds coming up the stairs above them. Hannah, her two braids swinging, ran down and called out anxiously, "Lucas, are you alright?"
She had written several letters inviting her friends to support Lucas, but just as everyone arrived, they heard about the major heist at Gringotts. Tom strictly forbade her from leaving the Leaky Cauldron, and the children were all taken home by their parents.
"I'm fine," Lucas said with a smile. "It's just that my food truck was destroyed, and it'll take some time to build a new one."
Just then, staff members in uniform walked in.
"Does Lucas McGregor live here?"
Lucas responded with some surprise, "That's me."
Huh? The Auror just left, and the people in charge of further investigation have already arrived?
The wizard pulled out a letter: "Mr. McGregor, I regret to inform you that your stall operating permit has been suspended."
