Chapter 6 Rising with the Dragon
Chapter 6 Rising with the Dragon
"Ellie!" one of the wizards scolded. "You shouldn't have taken off your dragonskin cloak now. It's your life-saving item, and our mission isn't over yet!"
"Uncle Fergus." The girl, Ellie, put her cloak back on, but her tone was somewhat nonchalant. "Skye has already been taken down, hasn't she? She was badly injured first, and then she took seven 'Stun' shots. Now she can't even move the base of her tail."
"It was six shots," Fergus said. "You didn't pronounce the 'fy' sound correctly in your knockout spell; I'm sure it didn't work."
As the two of them were talking, the other wizards took off their hoods, revealing sweaty brown hair, rough skin, and dark complexion, clearly the result of living in the wilderness for a long time and being exposed to the sun and wind.
However, their eye color is mainly green, with only the girl Ellie possessing bright purple eyes like the black dragon.
Hamish McFastie had already given Professor Sprout a brief explanation of what had happened, while Lucas listened intently.
It turns out that the black dragons of the Hebrides Islands are naturally warlike, and each adult black dragon needs a territory of more than one hundred square miles. The black dragon in front of us, named Skye, was once famous and powerful, and had seized a resource-rich territory.
But now it is old, and just two days ago, it was defeated by a younger male black dragon named Obsidian and driven out of its territory.
McFastie had a set procedure in place to help Skye transition smoothly in this situation. However, Skye was seriously injured and severely traumatized. In her frenzy, she lost her mind and ran away from the Hebrides Islands to the nearby Scottish Highlands.
The McFastie family sent a team to track it down, and finally they found it on the hillside outside the McGregor family's farm.
"Thank you, Professor Sprout," Hamish said. "If you hadn't held it back, we might have lost it again. It's in very bad shape; not only is it injured, but we suspect it's also sick. In short, its behavior is completely disrupted, it's disoriented, and it's difficult to predict its next move."
He glanced at the sheep carcasses on the hillside: "For example, it's impossible for it to attack a flock of sheep like this."
He sighed deeply, mustered his strength, picked up his wand, and suddenly pointed it at Lucas and Finley!
"It's finally over. Now, let me erase the memories of these two Muggles who got involved."
"Stop, Mr. MacFastie!" Professor Sprout immediately stepped in front of the two. "This child is a new student at Hogwarts! And this elder is his grandfather. They have already entered the wizarding world; this cannot be done!"
Hamish raised an eyebrow: "Well... actually, according to the Ministry of Magic's regulations, they are currently considered to have limited knowledge, especially regarding secrets like black dragons that absolutely cannot be known to any Muggles—"
Finley McGregor blushed and snatched the shotgun from Lucas's hand, but Hamish changed the subject and decisively put away his wand: "Of course, to hell with the Ministry of Magic, to hell with the rules! To be honest, we've always felt that the MacFastie family would have taken better care of the black dragon without the Ministry of Magic."
He launched into a tirade about the Ministry of Magic to the three people he had just met, then smiled at Lucas: "A new student at Hogwarts? How does it feel to receive a letter from Hogwarts? Are you especially excited? I really envy you being able to go to this magic school, while we're still sticking to the tradition of family education. I think it's time for a change..."
"Hamish!" the wizard named Fergus shouted. "You talk too much. Come and help. We need to lock Skye up and take her away."
Hamish apologized to Professor Sprout and turned to jog back. The group of wizards pulled long, heavy chains from a small leather bag. Lucas couldn't resist getting closer to examine them; such a large pile of chains clearly couldn't be contained in a small leather bag, and without a doubt, it was also a magical creation.
Seven wizards, each wielding a chain, tapped it with their wands, and the chains danced like pythons, coiling towards the enormous black dragon. Some wrapped around its head, some swam towards its ankles, and some flew towards its back...
But Ellie's chains didn't seem to obey her commands. With just a light tap of her wand, the chains shot out and wrapped around the base of the black dragon's wings before anyone else could.
Fergus frowned. "Fail, Ellie. You didn't grasp it at all."
"Come on, Fergus," one of the wizards said disapprovingly, "Ellie is only eleven years old—"
Suddenly, a deafening roar erupted!
The enormous dragon wings flapped, crashing down like a wall, sweeping away several approaching chains. The long tail of the arrow lashed out with a loud bang, sending a wizard flying!
The black dragon, which should have been unconscious on the ground, suddenly began to thrash about. Its immense power pulled on the chains that were already binding it, lifting the two wizards into the air before slamming them back to the ground, causing the chains to fly out of their hands.
"Damn it, it's faking it! It was awake a long time ago!" Hamish yelled, waving his wand wildly. "Faint! Faint!"
However, Fergus crashed into him heavily, his body gleaming with the light of the Ironclad Charm, and tackled Hamish in mid-air, sending him tumbling away. Almost at the same moment, a burst of dragonfire slammed into the spot where Hamish had been standing, and the flames spread outwards like a tidal wave.
Several wizards waved their wands to block the flames, but with a whoosh of wind, the black dragon took to the air and flew upwards.
Hamish, pinned beneath Fergus, saw something and cried out in alarm, "Ellie, Ellie!"
Ellie, a girl, rises with the dragon!
It turned out that everyone else's chains were blocked or broken by the black dragon, but Ellie's chains were not broken. She held on tightly to the chains and was pulled by the black dragon into the sky.
Moreover, there was another figure hanging beneath her!
Professor Sprout and Finley shouted simultaneously, "Lucas!"
Just now, Ellie was lifted into the air by the chains, passing right in front of Lucas. Instinctively, Lucas reached out and grabbed her calves, trying to pull her down to safety.
But compared to the dragon, his strength was like that of an ant. He felt a tremendous force pulling him upwards, and before he could react, he was already dozens of feet in the air, still rapidly rising!
By the time the wizards had extinguished the spreading dragon flames and were free to do so, Ellie and Lucas were already hundreds of feet in the air and were rapidly moving away!
"Too far!" Fergus's face was extremely grim. "The spell is unlikely to work. Let's catch up!"
