Chapter 40 I Am Actually an Angel
Chapter 40 I Am Actually an Angel
Tony drove away in the car arranged by S.H.I.E.L.D., and the S.H.I.E.L.D. building gradually shrank in the rearview mirror.
"Jarvis, retrieve Pepper and Happy's locations," Tony ordered Jarvis as he drove.
"Miss Potts is currently in her office at Stark Industries, and Mr. Hogan is on standby in the underground parking garage. Both are in good health," Jarvis reported from inside the car.
Tony breathed a sigh of relief, but his brow remained furrowed: "Monitor Valon's location and obtain his real-time vital signs if possible."
Jarvis paused for a moment, then said, "I'm sorry, sir, Mr. Valon's life signal completely disappeared three seconds after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D., and we are currently unable to track him."
Tony slammed on the brakes, and behind him came car horns and the driver's curses.
Tony ignored him, his eyes fixed on the steering wheel, the words of the Holy Lord echoing in his mind.
"Two hearts... the true target of the New York nuclear bomb... how much did he actually know?"
Meanwhile, the only son of God walked the streets of Manhattan, using the Monkey Talisman to blend into the crowd, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"Tony still doesn't believe me, but he has no other choice now. He needs someone to cooperate with him within S.H.I.E.L.D."
The Holy Lord turned into an alley, and Natasha and Steve emerged from his shadow.
The two bowed their heads and knelt on one knee behind the Holy Lord.
"Report the situation." The Holy Lord's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"Now, even the regular agents within S.H.I.E.L.D. have noticed Fury's unusual behavior, and he's currently purging agents who harbor disloyal intentions," Natasha said first.
Steve pulled out a stack of documents and handed them to the Holy Lord: "This is Fury's next plan. He wants to use your abilities to undermine the military and bring the United States completely under his control."
The Holy Lord seemed to have heard a joke: "Trying to use me? What a bold ant."
Steve added, "He is preparing for the next move against the military, while also increasing surveillance on senior officials within the agency. Hill has been isolated from key positions, and Coulson, while outwardly compliant, has been secretly gathering evidence."
S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Director's office.
Fury stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, a glass of whiskey in his hand, gazing out at the scenery with one eye. He was already beginning to plan what would happen after he took control of America.
There was a knock on the office door, but Fury didn't turn around: "Come in."
The Holy Lord pushed open the door and entered, his face displaying just the right amount of respect. He stopped three steps away from Fury and bowed slightly.
"Chief, Stark has been sent back."
Fury turned around and looked Shendu over: "He didn't offer any resistance?"
The Holy Lord shook his head: "No, he dares not act rashly now."
Fury nodded in satisfaction and sat down behind the desk. "Tony is a smart man. The weakness of smart men is that they are too sentimental."
Fritz paused, then looked up at the Holy Lord: "Do you think he'll obediently hand over the technology?"
The Holy Lord was silent for a moment: "He will hand it over, but he will definitely have a backup plan. He won't reveal all his cards."
Fury sneered: "A backup plan is meaningless. As long as we get the core technology, we can research the rest ourselves. Besides, with you here, he can't cause any trouble."
The Holy Lord lowered his head: "I am willing to serve the Director."
Fury stood up and walked to the Holy Lord, patting him on the shoulder: "Do a good job, I won't treat you unfairly, you are now my most loyal second-in-command."
The Holy Lord raised his head, a hint of gratitude flashing in his eyes: "Thank you for your appreciation, Director."
Fury clapped his hands in satisfaction: "Keep an eye on Tony's side, and report to me immediately if you see anything unusual."
The Holy Lord responded and turned to leave the office. Fury added behind him, "Keep an eye on Steve and Natasha as well. Report any unusual behavior to me."
When the Holy Lord returned to his residence, he noticed an ant in the corner of the house. He transformed the ant into a miniature Fury and stomped on it until it died.
It's almost here. That idiot Fury still thinks everything is under his control. Wait until Fury can't contain his ambition, wait until Tony defeats Fury, wait until everything is beyond saving, and then Fury will summon Captain Marvel.
"Captain Marvel, cosmic-level combat power," Shendu silently calculated.
The communicator suddenly rang; it was Tony's number.
The call connected, and Tony's weary voice came from the other end: "Vallon, I need to see you."
"Now?"
"Now," Tony paused, "there are some things that can't be explained over the phone."
The Holy Lord did not immediately agree, remaining silent for a while before stating, "Location."
The call ended, and the Holy Lord straightened his clothes, turned around, and went out. His shadow stretched and spread out under the lamplight.
Half an hour later, in a corner of a bar in Manhattan.
Tony sat in a booth, his glass empty. When he saw the Holy Lord arrive, he looked up and gestured with his chin for him to sit down.
"What would you like to drink?"
The Holy Lord shook his head: "No need."
"What, still afraid of getting drunk? Don't forget I've studied your blood; you can't get drunk," Tony provocatively said.
The Holy Lord did not respond.
Tony sighed and opened another bottle of wine. "You said you have two hearts, and I believe you, but I want to know more."
The Holy Lord leaned back in his chair, his expression calm: "For example?"
"What exactly are you, Eastern dragon? To be honest, I have absolutely no idea. I'm more inclined to believe you're a Chitauri biological weapon now." Tony's words were blunt.
The Lord said calmly, "You are very intelligent, Mr. Stark, but knowing too much about some things is not good for you."
"Furthermore," the Holy Lord changed the subject, "don't compare me to inferior beings like the Chitauri."
Tony sneered, "Don't give me that. This isn't the first time we've worked together, but I still can't determine what kind of creature you are."
The Holy Lord raised his hand, and dark magic swirled within it. Tony was astonished to find that all the sounds around him had vanished.
"A little trick to make sure our conversation isn't overheard."
The Holy Lord withdrew his hand: "Since you want to know, I will tell you part of it."
Looking into Tony's eyes, the Holy Lord "confessed," "In the language of your world, our world is called Heaven."
Upon hearing this, Tony's eyes widened. Heaven, something that only existed in legends, but then he thought of Shendu having two hearts and being able to transform and control inanimate objects, which were somewhat similar to angels. Moreover, the little tricks that the other party had just mentioned were impossible for him to do.
"Something has gone wrong in this world. I've been sent on a mission, but I can't reveal what that mission is."
Using the power of the Mind Stone, the Holy Lord now shines with holy light in Tony's eyes.
An aura of purity, inviolable in any form of desecration, kept reverberating in Tony's heart.
"You saw it too, didn't you? I am actually an angel."
