Chapter 237: The Destruction of the Temple
Chapter 237: The Destruction of the Temple
The avatar of nothingness seemed to have sensed their plan, and its deep voice rang out again: "You cannot defeat me. The fusion of rules and nothingness is the ultimate destiny of the universe."
“Perhaps,” the observer responded softly, “but we will seek the answer in our own way.”
Under the combined action of the Guardians, the Void Avatar sensed a threat. Its deep, disdainful voice echoed throughout the rift space: "Foolish creatures, your resistance is futile. I do not depend on this fragile space; my power is everywhere."
As the sound faded, the temple began to tremble violently. The runic stone tablets floating in the void crumbled one after another. The radiance symbolizing the origin of the rules within the temple rapidly dissipated, replaced by endless dark red void energy.
The observer looked up sharply and exclaimed, "It's going to destroy the temple!"
"Then it's digging its own grave!" The Arbiter brandished his twin blades, attempting to strike the falling stone tablets with flames. However, the flames were instantly consumed upon hitting the tablets, along with the power of the rules, vanishing into nothingness.
"Don't waste your energy!" the observer shouted. "While it's destroying this place, it's also leading us to the deepest part of the rift!"
Kane sneered, "Just what I wanted. If it wants me to enter its territory, then let's see who has the last laugh!"
Driven by the Void Avatar, the temple collapsed completely, forcing the guardians into a deeper part of the rift. The environment here was completely different from before: there were no rules, no physical space, only pure void energy surging, forming an endless dark red ocean.
Each step they took felt like stepping into an abyss, the surrounding void energy relentlessly eroding the guardians' bodies and wills. Sophia expanded her frost barrier to its limit, attempting to isolate herself from this energy invasion, but her face gradually turned pale.
“There are no rules here anymore,” Sophia said in a low voice. “If we go any deeper, our power will be completely destroyed.”
“Then we must end all of this as soon as possible.” Lysa gripped his spear tightly, his eyes filled with fighting spirit. “No matter the cost, we cannot back down.”
As the void energy continued to invade, internal conflicts among the guardians gradually erupted.
Kane surveyed the ocean of void energy, a meaningful smile playing on his lips: "Have you ever considered that perhaps the Void Avatar is the right thing to do? Rules and void are inherently one. Perhaps, fusion is the only way to solve the problem."
The Arbiter whirled around, glaring at Kane: "You mean you're giving up the fight and surrendering to it? If you're too cowardly to continue, then go back to your dimension!"
Kane remained unmoved, his tone tinged with sarcasm: "Arbitrator, your courage may be admirable, but your stubbornness will destroy us all. Don't you see? The power of the rules can no longer hold, and the Void Incarnation is an inevitable existence born from the universe's need for balance."
Sophia spoke coldly: "Although I hate Kane, what he said may not be without merit. If the rules cannot maintain the order of the universe, perhaps the return to nothingness is the real answer."
The Arbiter was enraged, his twin blades blazing with flames: "Which side are you two on? Are you going to cooperate with the Void Avatar and destroy the universe with your own hands?"
"Enough!" the Observer shouted, his star chart scepter emitting a bright blue light that jolted the group from their argument. "We don't have time to fight. If the Void Avatar awakens, it won't care about your opinions; everyone will be annihilated."
Lyza chimed in, "Now is not the time to argue about right and wrong. We must focus our efforts on destroying it, otherwise nothing will make a difference."
Despite their dissatisfaction, Kane and Sofia chose to temporarily suppress their differences and continue with the team.
Upon entering the core area of the void energy field, a barrier composed of pure void energy blocked their path. This barrier seemed to be alive; whenever someone approached, it released a powerful shockwave, repelling all forces that attempted to make contact.
“This is its ultimate defense.” The observer stared intently at the barrier, his voice heavy. “If we can’t break through here, we’ll never reach its core.”
The Arbiter attempted to tear the barrier apart with its double-edged flames, but each attack was completely absorbed by the barrier and even bounced back with stronger energy.
Kane frowned and said, "It seems we need more power, or even more insane methods."
Lysa was silent for a moment, then raised her spear. A dazzling golden light began to condense at the tip of the spear; that light was the convergence of all her energy, and even her body began to be enveloped in energy.
"Leza, what are you doing?" The observer realized her intention, a look of shock on his face.
“We don’t have time.” Lysa’s voice was calm and firm. “I will use my power to open this barrier. The rest is up to you.”
Without waiting for a response, she swung her spear, transforming into a golden meteor as she charged towards the barrier. The instant the spear struck the barrier, a tremendous roar erupted, and the entire void energy field began to tremble.
A crack was torn in the barrier, but at the same time, the void energy around the crack began to spread rapidly, making the entire area more unstable.
After the barrier was breached, the void energy surged outwards like a runaway flood. The edges of the cracks began to spread, devouring all remaining forces of order.
"Damn it!" The Observer gripped the Star Chart Scepter, struggling with all his might to stabilize the surrounding energy flow. "The destruction of the barrier has caused the cracks to spiral out of control! If the battle isn't ended soon, the entire universe will be covered in void energy!"
Lysa slowly rose from the ground, her body weak from exhaustion, but her gaze remained resolute: "The barrier has been opened, we cannot stop."
"You crazy woman..." Kane cursed under his breath, but showed no sign of backing down.
“Let’s go.” Sophia used an ice barrier to isolate some of the void energy, her voice icy. “We have no way out.”
The observer gazed at the endless abyss of nothingness before him, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. He understood that they were about to confront the most deadly being in the universe.
After Lessa shattered the barrier of the Void Avatar with his spear, the Guardians stepped into the deepest part of the rift. This area seemed to be completely beyond the constraints of the universe's rules; there was no flow of time or space, only an endless ocean of void energy.
The void energy surged like a dark tide, endlessly churning and creating countless vortexes. Each step the guardians took was incredibly heavy, as if this energy was eroding their consciousness and dragging them into an abyss.
