Chapter 116 Feigning Calm
Chapter 116 Feigning Calm
"Itachi, it's not a good idea for us to just abandon them like this."
"There's nothing wrong with that. They've grown up and have to walk their own paths. At most, we can only provide guidance."
"Cough cough..." Uchiha Ye was completely stunned when he heard this. "I can't believe these words came out of Itachi's mouth." Where did his brother-complex persona go?
Naruto and Sasuke watched the two figures leave, their faces filled with resentment.
"Onii-chan, you definitely did it on purpose. You just wanted to be alone with Ye-neechan." Sasuke pouted and said with some resentment.
Fortunately, he knew his brother wasn't planning to confess his feelings today, so he could relax for now.
Although Naruto didn't quite understand, he still preferred to be with Sister Ye. But what Brother Itachi said made sense; they had grown up and needed to learn to be independent. However, something still felt off.
"Idiot!" Sasuke turned his head to look at the dull-witted Naruto and couldn't help but sneer.
Upon hearing this, Naruto couldn't hold back and retorted, "Hmph, all you do is show off!"
And so, the two continued their practice while bickering, neither willing to yield to the other.
"Itachi, where are you taking me?!"
"Ye, you'll find out soon enough." Itachi smiled mysteriously and took her hand, leading her towards a forest.
The two walked and stopped frequently, and didn't arrive at their destination until it was dark.
"Itachi, it's getting dark." Uchiha Ye said somewhat embarrassedly. If she hadn't stopped to look at interesting things along the way, she wouldn't have arrived so late.
"It's alright, we'll rest here tonight, there's a room over there," Itachi said calmly, though his heart was pounding with excitement.
"I see! Then I'm relieved."
"Oh, right, Itachi."
"You still haven't told me where this is. It's like you've already scouted the place," Uchiha Ye asked.
"This is one of the Uchiha clan's industries, a place specializing in growing herbs to make soldier rations."
"Ye, you didn't have time to make the soldier's ration pills last time, and you're still short of a lot of herbs, which is why I brought you here."
As soon as he finished speaking, Uchiha Ye turned around and rushed towards him, hugging him tightly. "Itachi, you're so kind. Once I finish making it, I'll give it to you first."
"Okay." Itachi nodded, his hand subtly wrapping around Ye's waist.
"Itachi, this house looks like it was just built recently!" Uchiha Ye asked, somewhat puzzled.
"This one!"
"The house was already quite damaged, so we demolished it and rebuilt it." Itachi immediately came up with an excuse.
She gave an "oh" sound, feeling a little strange, but didn't think too much about it, assuming that the Uchiha clan was wealthy.
The more I looked at the house, the more familiar it seemed, as if I had seen it in one of her paintings.
"Ye, dinner's ready." A voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
She snapped out of her daze and walked to the table. Seeing the food on it, her eyes widened in surprise. "Itachi, you..."
She understood everything perfectly now; Itachi had prepared all of this on purpose.
"What a blockhead! Can't he just confess his feelings directly instead of going through all this trouble?"
Uchiha Ye couldn't help but mutter a curse to herself, but she felt a sweet warmth in her heart. However, she wasn't going to say it out loud. She wanted to see how long Itachi could keep it to himself, in case she misunderstood again.
Besides, it's not good to let the girl speak first!
Thinking back to the two previous tests on Itachi, she immediately calmed down considerably.
After finishing her meal, seeing that Itachi hadn't taken any further action, she felt a little disappointed. So she decided to give him some pointers.
While Itachi was packing his things, Uchiha Ha took out paper and pen and began to draw.
After Itachi finished, he quietly walked over and sat down to watch.
Another ten minutes or so passed before Uchiha Ye finally put down his paintbrush and handed the finished painting to Itachi, who was sitting next to him. "Here... for you."
"Ye, what's this?" Itachi asked, somewhat confused.
"This is the place I dream of living in for the rest of my life. Isn't it beautiful and picturesque?" She looked into Itachi's deep eyes and spoke earnestly.
Itachi looked at it carefully and nodded, but he felt that Ye meant more than just that.
Uchiha Yoru noticed the confusion in Itachi's eyes, but she wasn't going to explain any further; she had already given a clear enough hint.
In the early morning, she opened her eyes and, as expected, fell asleep in Itachi's arms again.
"They're quite far apart, she shouldn't be such a restless sleeper!"
Uchiha Ye couldn't figure it out, so he stopped thinking about it and stared at Itachi's face with his eyes wide open.
"Huh... Itachi doesn't seem to have developed tear troughs."
"Could she really have changed Itachi's life trajectory?" Uchiha Ye couldn't help but touch it. "It's quite smooth!" That was her first impression.
"No...no...she was checking if Itachi had tear troughs, why did she think of skin problems?"
Uchiha Ye berated himself for his actions, then resumed reading seriously.
"Itachi has grown taller and more handsome." She poked Itachi's little face and exclaimed, "Uh, it seems I've gone off-topic again."
"Such enviable hair..."
"Something's not right. What is she doing?" Uchiha Ye decided to stay still and watch quietly.
She couldn't hold out for more than ten seconds. Just as she was about to make another move, she noticed Itachi's eyelashes tremble slightly, and hurriedly closed her eyes.
One minute...two minutes...three minutes...
She peeked through a crack in her eye and met Itachi's ambiguous smile. "Um, was she discovered or not?"
"Never mind, as long as she doesn't admit it, it's not considered a discovery."
"Oh, the weather is really nice, it's a good time to pick herbs." Uchiha Ye left Itachi's arms quite naturally, got off the bed, washed his face, and left the cabin.
After leaving the cabin, she couldn't help but think, "Her acting was so natural, she probably got away with it!"
"Ye, you're so cute!"
"If only I could wake up like this every day," Itachi thought to himself, watching her departing figure. "But at least this preparation wasn't in vain."
Itachi recalled the painting Ye had given him last night, which mentioned the words 'a lifetime'.
"Is that what he meant?"
Itachi suddenly felt a surge of excitement. If what he thought was true, then Ye actually...
It took him a while to calm down.
"That's strange, I wonder if Itachi secretly went back to sleep!" Uchiha Ye picked some herbs and was puzzled when he saw that Itachi hadn't come over yet.
Just as she was digging with a small hoe, a voice came from behind her, "Ye, eat breakfast first."
Oh, they were making breakfast!
Uchiha Ye smiled and said, "Itachi, you've made me so fat." Although she said that, her hand instinctively reached for the food.
"No, she didn't wash her hands; they were covered in dirt."
"Itachi, wait for me." Uchiha Ye was about to use Water Release to wash his hands.
"Ye, let me feed you."
"Ah! I'm not... crippled yet..." Before she could finish speaking, Itachi picked up a spoon, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to his mouth.
Uchiha Ye had no choice but to swallow back what he wanted to say, and swallowed it with his mouth slightly open, since it wasn't like he hadn't been fed before.
"Itachi, you've cooked this seafood porridge perfectly." Her eyes lit up as she took a bite.
"If you like it, make more next time," Itachi said softly, his eyes full of tenderness.
“Yes, it’s really delicious.” Uchiha Ye didn’t stand on ceremony at all.
The weasel's ears turned red as it tried to remain calm while feeding the animals, its mind in turmoil about whether or not to speak up now.
After some struggle, I decided to go for something more formal; this is just too casual.
He was determined to create a scene that Ye would never forget.
Ideally, the scene depicted in that painting should be recreated.
