Chapter 26 Minister Fudge, a man of composure amidst panic!
Chapter 26 Minister Fudge, a man of composure amidst panic!
Minister Fauci was very flustered.
However, this panic did not stem from Voldemort's return as Dumbledore had mentioned.
It comes from Dumbledore himself.
In his view, Voldemort had been dead for almost ten years and could not possibly rise from the ashes.
Dumbledore is absolutely exaggerating!
This old man, though old in age, is still young at heart. The positions of Headmaster of Hogwarts and Head Wizard of Wizengamot are no longer enough for him!
They actually tried to create an accident and fabricate lies to usurp his power as Minister of Magic!
So, after receiving the message from Auror, he quickly discussed a plan with his confidants and rushed to Diagon Alley.
The Aurors failed to gather detailed intelligence.
This left Minister Fudge uncertain whether Dumbledore had colluded with one of the parties involved, the Gringotts goblins, and falsely claimed that Voldemort had returned.
It is also uncertain whether Dumbledore leaked this shocking false information to the Daily Prophet's reporter.
Therefore, Minister Fouché brought people to Diagon Alley with the intention of doing two things.
First, to silence the Gringotts goblins; second, to make the Daily Prophet speak according to his will.
But after he arrived, he found that he had a third thing to do.
Minister Fudge saw Professor Dumbledore standing in front of Ollivanders wand shop, as well as a half-giant with a criminal record.
Inside my heart, fear, anger, panic, and resentment surged up.
Ultimately, it transformed into a steadfast commitment to power.
He turned his head and whispered a few words to his female secretary, who was wearing a pink coat, and then assigned the task.
Then, seeing this excellent confidant who was extremely humble in front of him but arrogant in front of others, leading two Aurors straight towards the Daily Prophet and Gringotts, he felt somewhat relieved.
He straightened his clothes, had the remaining two Aurors disperse the few wandering wizards on the street, and then walked towards Dumbledore.
"Professor Dumbledore, I think you should give me a reasonable explanation!"
When they were still a few steps away from Dumbledore, Minister Fudge preemptively spoke, his tone serious and questioning.
"You want an explanation too?!"
Dumbledore was agitated. He might listen to the cold rebukes of a young wizard with a childlike heart, but that didn't mean he was willing to listen to the provocative words of an inactive politician.
"What...what kind of attitude is this?! Dumbledore, I admit you are powerful, but you must remember, I, Cornelius Fudge, am the Minister of Magic!"
When Minister Fudge heard Dumbledore's impatient words, his defenses crumbled, and he was so angry and annoyed that he almost jumped up and down.
"Alright, Fudge, you're the minister, of course I know that."
Dumbledore tried to calm himself down and adjust his state of mind, but his tone of voice was still a little harsh, "But you shouldn't be here right now, you should be at the Ministry of Magic!"
Get your colleagues, and the entire British wizarding community, on high alert!
Voldemort is back!
"You...you're talking nonsense!"
Minister Fudge's face was filled with doubt and dissatisfaction. "Stop playing tricks and trying to mislead people, Dumbledore! Voldemort... the Man Who Diesel is dead! He's not coming back, I told you!"
Unable to tolerate anyone questioning Dumbledore, Hagrid spoke up. As someone directly involved in the matter, he believed he had the right to speak.
“Minister, it’s true! In Gringotts’ underground vault, I saw Voldemort with my own eyes possessing the back of a wizard’s head. I have no doubt about that terrifying face. He even cast a spell on me!”
Fudge's anger flared even more at the thought of someone daring to contradict him, and he turned to Hagrid with a personal attack:
"What credibility do you have for the words of a despicable wizard with a murder case on his head?"
If the mysterious man had truly cast a spell on you, would you still be alive to lie to me? If it weren't for Dumbledore protecting you, I would have locked you up in Azkaban!
"Enough! Fudge!"
Dumbledore was furious. He already felt guilty towards Hagrid and couldn't stand by and watch Fudge insult Hagrid. "Hagrid is a good wizard, you can't say that about him!"
Hagrid's face turned red as he recalled the injustices he had suffered over the years, and he couldn't help but burst into tears of anger.
“I didn’t kill anyone! Aragog didn’t kill anyone either!” Hagrid roared. “It was Voldemort who framed me! He was the one who opened the Chamber of Secrets, he was the one who killed people! He confessed to me in the underground vault!”
"Clap clap-"
Hearing Dumbledore's defense and Hagrid's rebuttal, Minister Fudge, enraged, burst into laughter and immediately began to applaud:
"Very well! Is this how you play it? It seems that the great Professor Dumbledore not only wants to use the dead Void to bring me down, but also wants to make Void bear another crime so that he can be completely exonerated for your big, dumb subordinate!"
"The dead can't say no, that's a brilliant plan!"
“No, Fudge, you’re being too sensitive! I believe Hagrid wouldn’t lie. Voldemort really isn’t dead, and he’ll be back soon! You must make sure the wizarding world is on high alert!”
Dumbledore emphasized earnestly.
However, Minister Fauci didn't believe a single word of it.
He suddenly brought his old face, which was considerably younger than Dumbledore's, close to Dumbledore's ear, and whispered menacingly:
"Stop acting, Dumbledore! I see through everything!"
If you don't want to be disgraced, and you don't want your big oaf by the side to be sent to Azkaban, you'd better stop spreading these stupid and horrifying rumors! This is advice from the Minister for Magic!
After Fudge finished speaking, he stopped listening to Dumbledore and Hagrid, made a stylish turn, and walked towards the Daily Prophet's office.
The two Aurors who stayed behind immediately followed.
The scene was quite dashing, but unfortunately, after walking a short distance, Minister Fouché's legs began to tremble uncontrollably.
Fortunately, no one noticed.
Dumbledore, who remained where he was, felt his sorrow grow even heavier.
He never imagined that, just one day later, his meticulously crafted, almost flawless plan would turn into a tangled mess that was difficult to handle.
What should we do next?
……
Leaving aside Dumbledore's guilt and frustration, Dudley and Harry, upon entering Ollivanders wand shop, experienced a completely different situation.
Let's go back to when the two cousins first entered the wand shop.
Ollivanders Wand Shop is equipped with soundproofing magic, so once you step inside, you can't hear any sounds from the street outside.
This is because crafting a wand requires a quiet environment, a delicate art form.
When the two entered the store, there was no one behind the counter.
Dudley and Harry were immediately drawn to the tall wooden shelves on both sides of the shop, piled high with wand boxes.
A wand is to a wizard what firearms are to a Muggle.
This quaint room, filled with wands, resembles a wizard's armory, both magnificent and magical.
But these wands presented a different picture to Dudley.
