Chapter 27: An Occupation at the Ministry of Magic
"Ah... this must be Miss Lovegood, right?" Dumbledore greeted Luna first, nodding slightly with a smile as he looked at the two who had emerged from the book. "I've met Mr. Lovegood many times."
"Hello, Headmaster Dumbledore." Luna showed exceptional respect to Dumbledore.
Just now you were spreading rumors about Dumbledore and Lord Grindelwald... Thinking this, Loila subtly moved behind Luna and stuffed the spatial storage book into her arms. She didn't want Dumbledore to see the cover of that book.
Moreover, she already knew why Dumbledore had come.
"It seems you want to talk to Royla about something, right?" Luna tilted her head slightly, glanced at Dumbledore, and then said, "Then I'll take my leave."
"Goodbye, Royla! Goodbye, Headmaster Dumbledore!"
She skipped and hopped away, like a light breeze.
Royla was left looking flustered, while Dumbledore wore a smile.
"Miss Hamilton, you seem to have succeeded," Dumbledore said, slowly sitting down, while Loila stood before him like a student being scolded.
"It's a success..." Loila glanced at Dumbledore, whose ever-smiling old face revealed nothing of his thoughts.
Was he angry? Or not... or did he just forget? After all, isn't it possible that he's getting older?
"That's good. Now you should be able to continue your work at the Ministry of Magic, right?"
Very good, he hasn't forgotten at all!
Upon hearing this, Loila from the Ministry of Magic shuddered, taking a few steps back and leaning against the table. "Of course... I just... forgot... ah... no... I wasn't feeling well..."
What was the excuse I gave the Ministry of Magic back then?
"Shouldn't we be visiting relatives?" Dumbledore said with a smile, taking a candy from his pocket and handing it to Loila.
Is this really it?
Loila was silent for a few seconds before taking the candy.
"This...is..." Loila subconsciously thought it was another Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean, and she later actually tasted booger flavor in those beans...but upon closer inspection, it didn't seem to be.
"These are honey tarts," Dumbledore said, taking a bite himself. "Sweet honey... reminds me of happy times."
Your happy times? Were they when you defeated Lord Grindelwald?
"So, when was Miss Hamilton happiest?"
"I..." Loila thought about it carefully. She didn't seem to have any particularly happy moments... Did becoming friends with Mr. Lupin and Miss Lovegood count?
Still those days with Lord Grindelwald in Nurmengard...
But for some reason, she couldn't say that she felt happiest.
Superlative terms don't seem to be used for these kinds of things.
Looking at the silent Loyra, Dumbledore gently shook his head and said, "In that case, go and search carefully."
"Perhaps you'll find it at Hogwarts."
Definitely not... Even if it happens, it should be the day you're defeated...
Loira shook her head, clearing those thoughts from her mind, and then asked a question that was more relevant to her now: "Is Mr. Scrimgeour... angry?"
"Rufus... he's always like that." Dumbledore shrugged. "I don't know if he's angry or not."
"But don't worry, he won't suck your blood." Dumbledore seemed to know what Miss Lovegood had mentioned...
Yes, he must have heard it from Mr. Lovegood...
Loila gave a slightly awkward smile.
"There is a gentleman named Gerst Parkinson who seems to miss you very much."
"Parkinson's...?" Loila paused for a moment, then immediately thought of that talkative Auror... He was probably the Auror she hated the most before Dumbledore became an Auror...
The thought of spending time with this tireless gentleman again made Loila feel a little scared.
Seeing Loila's pale face, Dumbledore smiled.
He seemed to be enjoying something.
"Then...then when...when will it be next?" Royla tried to control herself from saying that going with the Ministry of Magic was like going to the execution ground, but Dumbledore could still tell from her trembling voice.
"Tomorrow morning," he said slowly, "and... the day after tomorrow morning..."
"And..." he paused, "...the morning after tomorrow."
Should I be thankful that there isn't a word like "the day after tomorrow" in English?
"Don't worry, the day after tomorrow is the last time." Dumbledore saw through Royla's thoughts.
"That's...that's good..." Loila breathed a sigh of relief, otherwise she felt that she might have used a spell on Mr. Parkinson's because she couldn't stand him before she could accomplish Lord Grindelwald's great cause.
"Oh, by the way, Miss Hamilton," Dumbledore said, glancing at the rubbing on the table as if he'd just remembered something, "you met Mr. Scamander, didn't you?"
"Hmm...hmm." Loila looked at Dumbledore with some surprise. Did Mr. Lupin tell you? Or Newt? Could it be Miss Lovegood...So you're also Dumbledore's spy?
"I spoke with Mr. Scamander a few days ago, and he mentioned you," Dumbledore said slowly. "He thinks you are a true magic array expert."
"I...I only know a little bit about it..." Newt, don't talk nonsense...My understanding of magic arrays is far from that of an expert.
Loila said somewhat embarrassedly, "There are many people who know more about this than I do."
"I see..." Dumbledore nodded upon hearing this. "But this has indeed given me some new ideas." He slowly rose to his feet. "However, these ideas are a bit late now."
"Good night, Miss Hamilton." He said, walking to the door of the room, then turning his head slightly as if he suddenly remembered something.
This made Loila quickly inhale the breath she had just managed to exhale.
"Miss Hamilton, would you like some more honey tsunamis?"
"No...no need."
"Clatter".
The door closed, and Loila let out a long sigh as she lay down on the bed, rolling around on it a few times...
call……
He took a few more deep breaths.
Loila felt her tension dissipate considerably... Once Dumbledore left, the joy of completing the spatial storage book surged back.
She had accomplished something she hadn't been able to before... That's wonderful... She smiled slightly, her pointed ears bobbing as she pulled down her hood.
Next, I need to find time to take notes... Dad said that I should take notes after each magic circle drawing to check for any omissions or errors...
But these past few days have been a bit busy... The thought of having to serve those Aurors tomorrow gave Loila a headache.
Never mind... I should just rest...
I wonder when Mr. Lupin will be back?
Suddenly, before falling asleep, she thought of Lupin.
