Chapter 189. Thanos's Scheme
Chapter 189. Thanos's Scheme
The land was desolate and broken, the mountains were broken and shattered, the stars hung upside down in the sky, and the lonely cold wind blew, swirling up pieces of decaying and dried flesh.
This is a world like the end of the world, with shattered warships embedded in the ground, corpses scattered all over the planet, rivers of blood of all colors flowing together, and a nauseating stench of blood permeating the surroundings.
Even the sunlight was blocked by the planets in the sky, and the whole world was dark, as if there was no hope in sight.
In this desolate world, only one person stands proudly, and even in the face of crisis, the light in his eyes cannot be extinguished.
Thanos tore off his tattered armor, revealing his battered, purple skin, and planted his massive black sword into the ground. He took a deep breath.
His gaze swept downwards, and beside the greatsword were five familiar corpses. They had bled to death, leaving only expressions of terror on their faces, as if they had seen something incredible before they died.
These are Thanos' Black Order, all of whom are now dead. Even Corvus Glaive, whose soul is imbued in the "Gladiator's Blade," has had his blade broken and is beyond dead.
It is easy to imagine the battle Thanos and his army went through and the price they paid, which was almost total annihilation.
"I know it's you. Come out." Thanos looked up at a void, his eyes extremely cold and sharp, but there was clearly nothing there.
After a long while, nothing happened.
"snort!"
Thanos snorted coldly, leaned back against the black giant sword and slowly sat down, his gaze still fixed on the void, showing no sign of relaxation.
"If you don't come out, you will never get my secret, and you will never get the so-called supreme power you speak of."
Finally, after these words were spoken, a ripple appeared in the void, and two indistinct black phantoms appeared.
They sometimes appear in human form, sometimes in animal form, sometimes in star form, and sometimes in the universe—various forms manifest on them, as if they were the manifestation of the ultimate truth of the universe, or the embodiment of the ultimate mystery, majestic and mysterious.
"Thanos, you are remarkable, capable of injuring us who are not part of the story. Indeed, you harbor an even more terrifying secret."
The two figures spoke in unison, their voices filled with an indescribable mystery, seemingly compatible yet also opposing, their grandeur beyond description.
Thanos looked at the two illusory figures and smiled knowingly: "As expected, it's you. It seems this cycle of reincarnation is the greatest opportunity. Even you couldn't resist making a move. You're also afraid of my plan!"
An indescribable sense of accomplishment filled Thanos's heart. Sure enough, his plan was correct. These beings in the universe were also afraid and worried about being purged.
"Uh—" The two figures paused at the same time. Although they had no facial features, you could sense that they were a little speechless.
Then, they spoke in unison, "Actually, you're not our primary target; dealing with you is just a matter of convenience. However, your secrets still entice us." "What? This is impossible!" Thanos's eyes widened in disbelief. "Besides me, what else in this universe is worth your attention?"
"Your confidence is admirable, but your ignorance is laughable. You may have secrets, but compared to the being that could possibly stop us, you are still far too insignificant," the two voices said calmly, showing no regard for Thanos.
"Then—can you tell me who it is? Consider it my last plea before I die. I know that if you kill me, I will never be able to retain my memories again," Thanos said sorrowfully, even squeezing out a few tears of fear.
"We're sorry, you're not qualified, but out of respect for the strong, we'll let you die without pain." The two figures bowed slightly, their final forms settling into human shapes, highlighting their respect.
"Not worthy?" Thanos lowered his head, looking extremely disappointed.
"Yes, you are not worthy." The two figures said very sincerely, as if two friends were advising them.
Thanos nodded, slowly stood up, stared at the indifferent figure in the void, and wore a smug smile: "You two pieces of trash, you don't really think I can't kill you, do you?"
"Oh?" The two figures were somewhat puzzled. "You even paid the price of your entire fleet to kill the Destroyer we were controlling, and you still have this kind of confidence?"
Thanos did not answer immediately. Instead, he picked up the black greatsword and gently wiped the blade, as if he were caressing his lover.
"I know what you paid to enter the multiverse. Under the blockade of the God of Stories, you had to castrate your own power. In order to prevent your remaining power from being lost under the rules of the multiverse, you had to find an energy source located inside the multiverse."
And that energy source is Nar, am I right?
"That's right. Countless memories of reincarnation have given you enough wisdom, but they have also made you blindly arrogant. Now that you know the truth, what can you do?" The two figures answered indifferently.
"What are you doing?" Thanos pointed his sword at the sky. "Check if your energy source is still there."
As soon as he finished speaking, Thanos immediately transmitted a message to Venom in a strange way. Venom understood immediately and cut off the power supply to the figure outside the universe.
"This is impossible! How could you make Nar betray our alliance? This will damage his very foundation. How did you do it?" the two figures exclaimed incredulously.
"Heh, you are not worthy to know. I will drain you of everything, uncover the true secrets, and launch my final revenge against the being behind you!"
Thanos roared, and endless energy burst forth from his body. The planet beneath his feet could not withstand this power and turned to dust in an instant. Even the entire dimension was filled with anguish.
Swing your sword!
Where the sword's edge swept, space shattered, rules tore apart, everything turned to nothingness, everything returned to death; this sword represented the end of the universe.
Behind Thanos, a phantom of a goddess suddenly appeared, almost merging with Thanos. Together they wielded the giant sword that represented death, bringing a final elegy to those whose blades were pointed at.
The two figures did not resist. Suddenly, visible fluctuations appeared on the black phantoms, and passages connecting to unknown places appeared in their eye sockets, as if recording Thanos's actions.
"Hahahaha!" Thanos roared with laughter. "You think the reason I sacrificed so many of my men, and why I brought you to this dimension, was to prevent you from sending any messages!"
As the cold, sharp words fell, the giant sword swept out, and the two figures were sucked into the sword without any resistance.
Only the sound of sudden realization remained in the air.
"So, you've been pretending all along—"
