Chapter 83. A Mysterious Kidnapping

The two returned to Stark Tower together. The first thing Jarvis did after gaining a body was to explore the world, touching this and that.

The first thing Stark did upon returning was to have a thorough medical check-up to confirm that his improved condition was not an illusion.

Although his lifestyle was very irregular, he was still very clear about his basic physical condition; he had some minor illnesses, but not many.

The test report came out quickly.

In summary, it can be summed up in two words: healthy, very healthy, extremely healthy.

All minor ailments have disappeared, and all indicators have reached their healthiest levels, as if my body has been rejuvenated.

Stark never imagined his body could be associated with the word "health".

His gaze toward Jarvis beside him became intense. With Jarvis, he could do research however he wanted in the future, and there was no need to worry about staying up all night. They could just work together to do research.

He's already envisioning the days when he'll kick Steve's butt with an even stronger mech.

Stark will not combine with Jarvis to challenge Steve; he will use the mech he developed himself, rather than relying on Jarvis, who evolved due to Ultraman's power.

However, he will still leverage resources when necessary, such as studying Jarvis's body structure to research the latest mechs.

"Hey Tony, is something chasing you? You rush into the lab to do experiments without even taking a break. Can't you balance work and rest?" Ji Yuan said helplessly.

Stark tapped the wrench on his mech without turning his head and said, "Rest? Rest what? Hydra is wreaking havoc on the world, and parallel universes are invading us. Who knows, maybe there will even be an alien war against Earthlings in the future."

"Before, I couldn't do anything because of my physical condition. Now that I have Jarvis, I want to use technology to change the world, create a better future, and make up for my mistakes."

Ji Yuan shook his head, took a sip of the hot tea in his hand. It was quite strange that a super-rich man would treat him like a beast of burden, and it was even possible that he would be working non-stop for 24 hours a day in the future.

However, it is foreseeable that Stark's technological advancements will reach an even higher level in the future.

"By the way, didn't you say there were problems within the group? Have you found the culprit?" Ji Yuan asked. He remembered that Obadiah had organized the attack on Stark, and normally they should have fought Stark.

Could it be that Obadiah's actions were delayed because he handed over the mecha technology ahead of schedule, or is there some other reason?

Stark sighed, stopped what he was doing, and turned to say, "Found it. I was just being preoccupied." Before he could finish speaking, Jarvis's voice came urgently from the phone: "Mr. Stark, Fury is calling."

"Frey?"

The two exchanged a puzzled look, wondering what Fury wanted to do on the phone. "Brewed Eggs contacting me first? It can't be anything good."

"Connect me."

Fury's voice immediately came through the phone: "Tony, I've received information that terrorists are trying to kidnap Pepper to threaten you."

"What?" Stark jumped up immediately. "Jarvis, locate Pepper's position immediately, mobilize the defense robots, let's set off now."

Stark felt as if his heart was being gripped tightly by a hand; he couldn't imagine what he would do if something happened to Pepper.

Jarvis's next words plunged him into despair.

"Mr. Stark, the signal has disappeared. Just a second ago, the entire Manhattan area was enveloped in a strange force field, and all signals could not be transmitted."

Sure enough, Fury's phone call had been cut off.

"Oh shit, Jarvis, combine! Let's go find Pepper and the others now," Stark said anxiously, his mind filled with thoughts of Pepper.

"Tony, wait a minute, what's the rush?" Ji Yuan quickly stopped Stark.

"Don't you find it strange that they chose to kidnap you and me when we were both here? There were so many opportunities, and Wanda is with Pepper right now."

"What do you mean?" Stark stopped.

Ji Yuan smiled slightly, showing no sign of nervousness: "Is it possible that they still have designs on me, and that Fury's call just now was merely a notification?"

Stark calmed down a bit and began to think about the issues involved.

He quickly realized something was wrong. If they wanted to kidnap Pepper to threaten him into doing something, they would have done it long ago, not waited until now. Clearly, those people still had designs on Ji Yuan, or their ultimate goal was Ji Yuan.

"So what should I do?" Stark asked.

"Think about who else has seen your Light Mech," Ji Yuan said.

"Obadia, I've met my uncle Obadiah before." Stark remembered that he had specifically shown his first-generation Light Mech to Obadiah in an attempt to dispel his concerns about closing the weapons department.

"But he didn't know that the core energy came from you, and I never told anyone."

Ji Yuan shook his head and said, "Some things don't need to be confirmed; speculation is enough. Although not many people know that I am a messenger of the gods, there are still quite a few as well."

"You mean someone wants your Ultraman-derived power, and my technology?"

"Perhaps."

To be honest, Ji Yuan didn't know the reason either. He just felt that those people were not very smart. Although he had not shown any lethal abilities, his identity as a divine messenger was still there. It was a bit outrageous that they dared to threaten him.

However, this strange force field that enveloped the entire Manhattan district was enough to prove that there was a powerful force behind them, and he sensed power from different dimensions within it.

"But what should we do now?" Stark said somewhat frantically. Pepper and the others wouldn't die, but that didn't mean they wouldn't be hurt.

Ji Yuan smiled and said, "Don't be afraid. Xiao Bai is with them the whole time. They'll be fine."

"Xiao Bai, what Xiao Bai? I've never heard you mention that before."

"Little White, it's a cloak."

"What?" Stark asked, looking bewildered. He didn't understand.

Ji Yuan didn't speak. With a wave of his hand, ripples spread through the void, and the scene on Wanda's side immediately appeared before his eyes.

Pepper and Wanda were sitting in a specially made bulletproof car, with three nearly three-meter-tall, beast-headed humanoid monsters emanating visible black energy outside.

The two women appeared somewhat frightened inside the car, and the three monsters created an extremely oppressive atmosphere.

"Don't worry, let them take you away, I'll always be here." Ji Yuan's voice suddenly rang out in the car.

Upon hearing Ji Yuan's voice, Wanda immediately calmed down, and the little white dog that had been protecting her from the shadows revealed itself, waving the corner of its cloak in greeting.

Pepper looked around, seemingly trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. The signal had stopped, and the sudden appearance of the moving cloak startled her.

"Pepper, don't worry, this is Stark. We're in the shadows. Your sports car is protected by Ji Yuan's magic, and those monsters can't touch you." Stark's voice came from the void.

Pepper finally quieted down and said, "So we're just going to wait here for them to kidnap us?"

Ji Yuan said, "Yes, let's find out who's behind this and take them down in one go."

Soon the monsters reached the car and tried to tear open the door, but the door remained unmoved despite their numerous attempts.

Left with no other choice, they grabbed the entire sports car and disappeared in a few leaps.

Only the onlookers remained, looking completely bewildered.
