Chapter 27: Conan Wants to Become Stronger
Chapter 27: Conan Wants to Become Stronger
Silence filled the room for a moment until Tangbing's uneasy whimper broke out. Akutagawa Hiko rubbed the dog's head before speaking again: "There's no need to worry too much. Kakuzu is strong, but he's not the type to cause trouble."
As they talked, Conan noticed that Akutagawa Hiko had become much more confident.
"Moreover, there are plenty of people in Konoha who can deal with him."
Konoha, that must be the code name of the organization Akutagawa joined.
Conan felt that he didn't understand this world anymore. Akutagawa Hikaru's performance was already shocking enough, yet he couldn't last more than a few moves against someone called Kakuzu.
And it seems that there are many in Akutagawa Hiko's organization who could defeat Kakuzu.
Conan scratched his head a few times, feeling even more headache-inducing than taking care of a child during the day. Fortunately, his worldview had already been shattered and rebuilt, and had become much stronger after this battle, so that his clever brain wouldn't get stuck again.
"Do you know why Kakuzu came here? He can't just be here to steal maple leaf coins, can he?"
Conan has never met Kakuzu, nor does he know Kakuzu's abilities.
However, just by comparing Akutagawa Hiko's previous performance, it is clear that he must be an extraordinary strongman. If he just showed off his skills, there would be plenty of people willing to give him money. It wouldn't be worth making a special trip just for these gold coins, right?
Conan's mouth dropped open as he received an answer from Akutagawa Hiko that was completely different from what he had guessed.
Akutagawa Hiko used Ice Release to make himself an iced cola, his expression somewhat strange: "From what I understand, he might really be after those gold coins."
"Because of some experiences in his early years, he is a person who only cares about money, especially money he earns himself. It is indeed something he would do to make a special trip for those gold coins."
Akutagawa Hiko reached his icy hand into Conan's collar, making him shiver and bringing him back to his senses.
"You don't have a bounty on you, so it's not a big problem. If you do run into him, he might also be interested in attacking you, so don't hesitate to offer your price."
Conan kept this life-saving strategy firmly in mind, but then suddenly realized that he didn't even know what Kakuzu looked like. He immediately asked Akutagawa Hiko, who clearly had a deep understanding of Kakuzu, about Kakuzu's physical characteristics.
Akutagawa Hiko pulled out a piece of white paper and a pencil: "There are bound to be discrepancies in what I say, so I'll draw it for you."
Conan curiously stepped closer. Akutagawa had never mentioned that he could draw before, and he seemed very confident about it.
However, when he thought about how he himself was also very talented, having studied at the Hawaii Institute of Technology with his father, his skill list seemed endless, he felt relieved.
After all, many times, even he himself only remembered that he knew this skill when the moment came.
Akutagawa Hiko was a very skilled painter. With just a few strokes, he sketched the outline of a face. Conan didn't have to wait long before a lifelike portrait was finished.
"A discount of 10000 yen, cash or bank transfer?"
Conan nearly choked on his milk and gave Akutagawa Hiko a resentful glare.
Shinichi Kudo is not short of money, but that doesn't mean Conan is. His parents give him living expenses in his personal account, and he can withdraw money from the bank when he needs it.
The day he shrunk, he had almost used up all his cash at Dorobiga Paradise.
As Conan, he's now penniless.
However, Conan also knew that Akutagawa Hiko was actually joking.
He needed the painting mainly to understand Kakuzu's appearance and features, so as to avoid not recognizing him when they met in the future and causing some unpleasant consequences.
If Akutagawa Hiko really wanted to make that money, he should have blocked him from seeing it.
Conan watched the entire drawing process and memorized what Kakuzu looked like.
The painting itself is not a necessity.
but……
Can I pay on credit?
Conan blushed slightly, clearly having never bought anything on credit before.
Akutagawa Hiko was taken aback, genuinely not expecting Conan to actually want to pay: "Ah, I was just kidding, no need."
Conan, however, was adamant: "No, let's buy on credit. I'll pay it back as soon as possible."
Conan secretly resolved that he couldn't let Akutagawa Hiko's efforts go to waste.
Leaving aside the two times he saved my life, the information and other assistance Akutagawa provided are of immeasurable value, and I can never repay this debt of gratitude.
Unfortunately, Akutagawa himself didn't seem to realize it, which made Conan's conscience even more uneasy.
How do I make money...?
Conan pondered to himself.
There are many ways to make money. For Conan, who doesn't spend much money, 10,000 yen isn't a very far-fetched goal. But the problem is that many ways to make money are simply not available to a seven-year-old child in the first grade of elementary school.
Even Conan, who used to be a big spender and never had to worry about not having enough money for living expenses, has started to worry about this little bit of money.
Akutagawa Hiko shrugged helplessly: "Fine, since you insist."
This is the first time I've ever seen a portrait sell for 10000 yen.
Seeing Conan yawn, Akutagawa glanced at the clock and led Conan to a guest room.
Conan isn't really a child, so sleeping in a room alone shouldn't be a problem for him; they should both feel much more comfortable with each other.
"Sleep here tonight, I'll go get you a blanket."
After settling Conan in, Akutagawa stretched and went back to his room early, sitting on the bed to read a scroll.
When the minute hand had completed a full circle, Akutagawa Hiko felt slightly tired. Without trying to resist sleepiness, he turned on the air conditioner and crawled into bed.
The next morning, Akutagawa Hiko led Conan through the newly blown-open hole into Dr. Agasa's yard.
Seeing that the world was becoming increasingly dangerous, Professor Agasa completed two more pieces of equipment under Conan's urging: a tracking glasses and a soccer belt.
It must be said that the doctor's cutting-edge technology is always trustworthy. Once the tracker is attached, there is nowhere to hide within a 20-kilometer radius.
Most importantly, the transmitter's signal is not easily interfered with.
And football belts.
Conan had complained to Professor Agasa many times before, but now he finally doesn't have to worry about not having a soccer ball at his feet.
Moreover, the soccer ball in the soccer belt can be adjusted in size, and the material is sturdy enough that you don't have to worry about the soccer ball bursting when you kick it too hard.
"Doctor, please let me know if you have any new inventions in the future!"
I feel like Conan is becoming more and more reliant on equipment, almost to the point of being armed to the teeth.
The culprit stroked his chin, thinking about when he could get a set from the doctor to play with. Even if he wasn't good at soccer, the value of shoes that enhance leg strength couldn't be ignored.
At the same time as Akutagawa Hiko, a client disguised as a student arrived at the Mouri Detective Agency.
Yes, it was a disguise.
For ninjas, the ability to detect disguises is a very basic skill. The person in front of them is not very good at disguise, at least not as good as the Thousand-Faced Witch or the Phantom Thief Kid.
This is a big event...
