But she clearly underestimated the weight of the hose reel; the canvas hose made her stumble, and her slender arms instantly felt sore and numb.
This is something a girl like her couldn't possibly move on her own, and if Su Hui were to take action, who would deal with the zombies?
Just as Harley was struggling and preparing to try again, she heard chaotic footsteps and faint shouts coming from around the corner of the corridor.
Su Hui's gaze sharpened, and he instantly gripped the spear in his hand, standing in front of Harley, his icy gaze fixed on the source of the sound.
Soon, four figures, three men and one woman, rushed out, their faces showing signs of having survived a disaster.
The leader was a burly, muscular white man wearing a vest with the college football team logo. Beside him were a handsome blond man and a young black man, both of whom looked tense and had wary eyes.
"Harley? Is that you? Harley!"
The one who spoke was a stylish white girl with wavy hair. Her face showed fear, but when she saw Harley, a hint of surprise and astonishment flashed in her eyes.
“Stacey?” Harley recognized the girl with the wavy hair; she was a classmate from her elective class.
"Great, Harley! You're alive!"
Stacy rushed over, her voice trembling with tears, and grabbed Harley's arm. "Thank goodness! I thought..."
"We just escaped from the study room too."
The blond, handsome man spoke up. His name was Brad, and he was Stacy's boyfriend. He warily sized up Su Hui behind Harley, his gaze lingering for a moment on the modified weapon in Su Hui's hand, stained with dark red blood. His eyes narrowed slightly. "And who is this friend?"
"He, he is..."
Harley was about to introduce Su Hui when she realized she didn't know his name.
"Su Hui."
Su Hui gave a concise response.
Chad, the burly white man, also looked at Su Hui with scrutiny and a hint of barely perceptible hostility, but he quickly looked away and looked eagerly at the water hose that Harley was trying to move: "Need any help? I'll take care of this."
Before Harley could respond, Chad had already stepped forward and easily hoisted the heavy water hose onto his shoulder, demonstrating his strength.
"We have to get out of here right now!" Jamal, the young Black man, urged, looking around warily. "The library is no longer safe."
Harley instinctively looked at Su Hui, seeking his opinion with her eyes.
Su Hui remained expressionless, only nodding slightly.
Having more people might help share the risks, although it could also bring trouble, but right now the most important thing is to get out of here.
With Su Hui's approval, Harley breathed a sigh of relief and nodded to Stacy and the others: "We're about to leave through the second-floor bathroom window. The fire hose can be used as a rope."
"good idea!"
Jamal's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "This thing is sturdy enough, and the way down there is behind the library, there shouldn't be many zombies there."
Brad looked at the weapon in Su Hui's hand, his eyes gleaming, and asked with a hint of probing, "Hey, Su Hui, your weapon... it's pretty unique. Where did you get it?"
Su Hui's gaze swept coldly over Brad, and without answering, he simply said, "Let's go, let's get out of here as soon as possible."
Brad was rebuffed by his attitude, and his expression turned somewhat unpleasant, but he didn't press the matter further.
Without further delay, Chad carried the water bag ahead, and the group quickly moved towards the restroom.
Upon entering the bathroom, an even stronger stench of blood assaulted the senses. Two corpses lay on the floor, their bodies mangled beyond recognition.
Stacy let out a short gasp, quickly covering her mouth, her face turning even paler.
Brad and Chad exchanged a glance, a hint of apprehension flashing in Chad's eyes.
"Quick! Open the window!"
Brad urged, not wanting to stay there a second longer.
The bathroom window was small. Pushing it open, one could see the lawn behind the library. Under the illumination of the emergency lights and distant firelight, the night was dark, and there was no sign of zombies for the time being.
Chad deftly secured one end of the fire hose to the sturdy metal pipe inside the bathroom, tying several tight knots, and then threw the hose reel out the window.
"Alright!" Chad clapped his hands. "Who wants to go first?"
"Ladies first."
Brad said with great poise, glancing at Harley and Stacy.
Stacy was a little scared and clung tightly to Brad's arm.
Harley glanced at Su Hui, and seeing that he didn't object, she took a deep breath, walked to the window, grabbed the hose, and was the first to climb out.
Although her movements were still a bit clumsy, she was much calmer than before in the library. Su Hui's composure and strength gave her courage.
Encouraged by Brad, Stacey also climbed down, trembling.
The height of more than five meters was still a challenge for the two girls, and they both stumbled a bit when they landed.
"Hey bro, it's your turn. We'll help you with your stuff, you can go down first."
Brad, Chad, and Jamal exchanged glances, then smiled and said to Su Hui.
Chad had noticed Harley's attitude toward the Asian boy long ago, which annoyed him, as he was already interested in Harley.
In this apocalyptic world, who wouldn't be envious of such an exceptional woman?
And an Asian man who doesn't look very tall can easily handle them at this moment, and they quickly reach a tacit understanding.
The three men positioned themselves to subtly surround Su Hui.
"No need, you guys go first, I'll go last."
Su Hui naturally noticed the three people's movements, raised the wooden spear in his hand, and remained indifferent.
He sneered inwardly, clearly seeing the three men's mutual dislike.
Did he really think the weapon in his hand was just for show?

"Hey buddy, don't be so tense!"
"Could you put your weapon down first? It's dangerous!"
Brad spoke up at the right moment, trying to ease the tension: "We just thought it was inconvenient for you to carry those things, and we wanted to help."
"Yes, we all escaped together, so helping each other is only right."
Jamal, the young Black man, echoed his words while subtly taking a step closer to Su Hui, seemingly trying to distract him.
Almost at the same time Jamal moved, Chad, who was standing on Jamal's other side, also adjusted his position.
Su Hui caught Chad's subtle movements out of the corner of his eye and sneered inwardly.
Sure enough, I couldn't hold back any longer.
These guys had no good intentions from the start.
In the apocalypse, the human heart is more terrifying than zombies.
The simple spear in his hand looked crude, but it was a product of system synthesis, killing them as easily as killing chickens.
These people probably thought he was an Asian student, all alone, and that he was easy to bully.
Trying to steal weapons?
Really looking for death!
"Need not."
Su Hui's voice was completely devoid of any emotional fluctuation.
But then a fierce glint flashed in Chad's eyes, and he suddenly reached out towards Su Hui, his large, fan-like hand grabbing directly at the [Simple Spear] in Su Hui's hand!
The movement was swift, accompanied by the whistling sound of the wind!
However, Su Hui reacted even faster!
Already on guard, he slightly shifted his body to the side, just in time to avoid Chad's grip.
At the same time, his left hand moved upwards in a straight line, blocking any possible small movements Chad might make later.
What made Chad's scalp tingle even more was that Su Hui's right-hand spear, like a venomous snake emerging from its hole, instantly changed direction!
The blood-stained, exceptionally sharp glass spearhead stopped precisely in front of Chad's right eye!
Less than a centimeter away from the eyeball!
A chilling killing intent instantly enveloped Chad!
He could clearly feel the bone-chilling cold emanating from the spear tip, and even smell the faint scent of blood.
Chad's muscles tensed instantly, cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and he froze in place.
He had no doubt that if he moved even slightly, that damned spear would not hesitate to gouge out his eyes!
"What do you want to do?"
Su Hui's voice was not loud, but it carried a chilling coldness.
The atmosphere solidified instantly.
The smiles on Brad and Jamal's faces also froze.
They hadn't expected Su Hui to react so quickly and act so ruthlessly!
Brad, in particular, looked at Su Hui with a completely different expression, now filled with deep apprehension.
This Asian kid is definitely not as simple as he seems!
"Misunderstanding! It's all a misunderstanding!"
Brad quickly smoothed things over, raising his hands to indicate that he meant no harm.
"Chad just wanted to help you get your weapon, nothing more, right, Chad?"
He glared at Chad.
Chad felt the sharp edge before him, his Adam's apple bobbed, and he nodded with difficulty.
"It's a misunderstanding."
His voice was dry.
Su Hui coldly glanced at the three of them, his gaze lingering on each of their faces.
His gaze was so intense that it made Brad and Jamal feel uneasy.
A few seconds later, Su Hui slowly withdrew his spear.
"Then hurry up and go down."
He didn't pursue the matter further, nor was he interested in wasting time with them.
Now is not the time to kill them. In Su Hui's eyes, their only purpose now is to become cannon fodder.
Brad secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly greeted them.
"Okay, okay, let's get off first, let's get off first."
He was the first to walk to the window, grabbed the hose, and nimbly slid down.
Chad glanced at Su Hui with lingering fear, but didn't dare say anything more, and followed closely behind.
Jamal quickly followed.
Standing by the window, Su Hui confirmed that it was temporarily safe below, then nimbly flipped out of the window, using his feet to push off the wall, and landed quickly and smoothly on the ground.
The whole process was smooth and efficient, much easier than the previous few people.
Her feet landed lightly, making almost no sound.
Harley kept looking up nervously until Su Hui landed, at which point she breathed a sigh of relief and quickly walked to his side.
"Are you OK?"
"Harley asked worriedly."
She noticed the unpleasant expressions on Brad's and the other two's faces; something had clearly happened up there.
"fine."
Su Hui responded calmly, his gaze sweeping over his surroundings.
The lawn behind the library was relatively open, with only the faint crackling of burning and indistinct roars coming from the distant street.
Safe for now.
