Chapter 21 Hunter Old Tang
Chapter 21 Hunter Old Tang
In Binhai City, under the beams of light at a hospital, a middle-aged man with an ordinary face stubbed out his cigarette and muttered curses. His name was Lao Tang.
Old Tang received a hunter's order today, requesting him to explore the secret of that beam of light. He was provided with a satellite phone, GPS map, infrared monitor, rope, and grappling hook.
He didn't want to come, but there was a girl he really liked in a Chicago bar last week, and he needed money.
Old Tang leaned against the hospital window, swallowed hard, squinted slightly, and sniffed gently—he detected an unusual smell.
"Damn it, after finishing this deal, I'll need at least six months of rest."
Suddenly, he turned around in surprise, and a voluptuous woman with long legs emerged from the darkness. Her eyes were narrow and long, like those of a fox from ancient mythology.
"Handsome, we're both hunters, wanna team up?"
Old Tang almost laughed. A hunter wanting to cooperate with another stranger? That was simply a fantasy.
Who can entrust their back to a stranger? Who knows if the person on the other side is a human or a ghost?
Jiu Demai raised a finger to silence Lao Tang, then pointed to the scene outside the hospital, which made Lao Tang's eyes widen.
"What, what's going on?!"
On the dimly lit path, a large group of unconscious hunters lay sprawled out, like wheat stalks in a field ravaged by hail.
Old Tang gasped. He had dealt with most of them before, and these people all had high bloodlines. Yet now they were all unconscious on the path next to the hospital.
Beneath that towering pillar of light, those who lay unconscious resembled loyal subjects, bowing their heads in submission to their king.
"What exactly happened?"
Mai Shude pointed to the massive pillar of light in the sky, her eyes reflecting shock: "Only those of extremely high bloodline are qualified to withstand the pressure without falling unconscious. What kind of being is being born inside?"
Old Tang looked around, scratched his head, and said, "I'm not doing this job. It's pointless to make money but not live to spend it."
"I am your employer; I hired you. If you accompany me to the deepest part, your payment will triple."
Mai Shude pulled out her Hunter account from her phone and opened her wallet balance under Lao Tang's horrified gaze. The massive amount of money almost crushed Lao Tang's nerves.
Old Tang hesitated for a moment, then stammered, "Although the reward is generous, I still refuse..."
"Five times the reward"
"But I still reject my fear; it is my honor to serve you."
Old Tang grinned, patted the magazine, then cocked his pistol and scouted ahead, looking every bit like a lackey of Jiu Demai.
"How should I address you?"
"Old Tang."
"Long legs".
"Truly deserving of its name."
.............
The four-colored beams of light fell upon Su An, making his body harder than steel and more lustrous than jade. His perfect body was slowly transformed by the Philosopher's Stone.
"Legend has it that the Philosopher's Stone can be used as a lever to lift people up to the realm of the gods. Similar allegories can be found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which describe how people can ascend the steps and slaughter the gods."
The vice principal looked at the beam of light surrounding Su An as if he were looking at a work of art—"His majesty has spread throughout the world; he is reaching the limits of humanity."
"Stop with the nonsense, what about the hunters outside?"
"Su An will handle it."
Upon hearing the vice-principal's words, Angers looked up in shock. Su An's body slowly floated up, his eyes already open at some point, their vibrant blue light sharp as knives, his gaze drifting into the distance.
The next second, Su An disappeared.
Angers rubbed his forehead and sighed, "Can't we take him away?"
A hint of helplessness, mixed with a touch of mischievous excitement, flashed in the vice principal's eyes: "After all, the Philosopher's Stone contains the will to fight, and he now craves a battle."
...................
Old Tang and Jiu Demai climbed through the window into the courtyard. They exchanged a glance, vaguely sensing something was wrong, and quickly retreated.
"Snapped!"
A hole was torn in the hospital floor; the hole was large and black, with fine cracks spreading out like a spider web.
As the floor was about to shatter, Mai Jiude gripped the fire alarm protrusion on the ceiling with one hand, her strong, bony fingers, and grabbed Lao Tang's arm with the other.
They looked down in horror and saw that the entire eleven-story building had been pierced through in the middle, the unknown black force was terrifying.
Old Tang was on the verge of tears: "Is it too late to run now? All I wanted was to buy a Cadillac to pick up girls, I never imagined I'd run into this monster!"
Mai Shude's eyes were eager to try, and her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was about to burst out of her chest.
"Clang!"
Her eyes narrowed, and she launched more than a dozen shuriken. This was a purification technique from the Koga secret arts, a series of deadly and ruthless shuriken throws aimed at piercing the enemy's vital points.
Eyes, brain, eyebrows, mouth, heart, neck, perineum, groin...
Every shuriken strike was aimed at a specific purpose: death.
The whooshing sound of metal cutting through the air was particularly loud in the space, but Mai Shude suddenly froze.
There was no sound of metal piercing flesh, nor any sound of metal being separated. These dozens of extremely lethal shuriken made no sound at all, like a giant boulder falling into water from a height of ten thousand meters, but without making a splash.
This eeriness made Jiu Demai shudder. She lit up her golden eyes and saw a blue light shining in the dark night, colder than the Nine Nether Cold Pool.
Mai Shude slowly parted her lips: "I didn't mean any harm..."
Su An raised his finger, and blue light instantly condensed, bursting forth as a straight blue beam of light pierced through the air.
Old Tang activated his golden eyes, grabbed Jiu De Mai, and pulled her down hard. It took him a lot of effort to move her and get her out of the blue light.
As Mai Shude turned, her hair fluttered, and blue light pierced straight through, giving her a free haircut.
Mai Shude stared blankly at her hair, which had been cut clean to the root. The cut was smooth, and there was no smell of burning; only emptiness and death.
Old Tang slapped her cheek and yelled, "Don't die! You haven't paid the balance yet! My Cadillac! My Cadillac!"
Mai Shude finally came to her senses. In the shadows, she could finally see the owner of those eyes. Black, tousled hair fluttered in the wind, and her face was delicate and clean, showing no trace of murderous intent.
The blue light of devouring and stripping shone repeatedly in the boy's hand, and leaping spirits from all directions surrounded Mai Shude.
Blue light! Blue light! Still blue light!
Emptiness and death filled every inch of this space; where the blue light licked, nothing remained.
Jiu De Mai dodged against the wall like a wild dog, but her chances of survival were getting slimmer and slimmer. Old Tang roared angrily, threw Jiu De Mai behind him, and then faced Su An and fired wildly!
"Damn it, the highest-grade alchemical bullets are specially for you! Just because I'm not showing my teeth doesn't mean I'm a pushover!"
Su An raised his finger, and the blue light, like a bolt of lightning, a python, or a giant dragon, swept down, making Lao Tang and Jiu Demai appear extremely small in front of it.
"Hello, sick cat; goodbye, sick cat."
