Chapter 29 Two Gods Accompany the Moon, Divine Bullet Enters the Body
Two gods accompany the moon, a divine bullet enters the body.
The morning light of Mingdu pierced through the thin mist, falling on the golden dome of the Federal Parliament building. It was already daylight, but the atmosphere in the meeting room was anything but relaxed. The brighter the light from outside, the more oppressive the atmosphere became, as if an invisible veil had been placed over everyone's heads.
In the conference room of the Federal Supreme Military Council, generals sat on both sides of a long table. Mo Runshu and Yue Mianmian stood at the far end, one in front of the other, not in a hurry to speak. Mo Runshu was dressed very neatly today, his speaker's uniform was in perfect order, his blond hair was tied back, and his heterochromatic eyes looked calm as always; Yue Mianmian was dressed in a silver-white dress, standing there with almost no extra movements, only slightly raising her eyes when she heard certain keywords.
"The Xingluo delegation returned home last night," Mo Runshu said first, his voice not loud, but it drew everyone's attention in the conference room. "But the real trouble now is not outside."
Someone in the audience frowned: "Speaker, has something happened at the Temple of War? Is Temple Master Chen alright?"
"Old Chen is fine." Mo Runshu glanced at him, his tone still calm. "However, last night, someone tried to tamper with our things in the warehouse."
As he spoke, he gestured to the holographic projection behind him. Three empty slots appeared side by side on the screen.
The conference room fell silent for a moment, followed by a suppressed commotion.
Mo Runshu didn't stop, continuing, "The Federation's top-secret arsenal suffered an attempted theft. Security intervened immediately, but three level-12 fixed-position soul-guided cannon shells still went out of control."
"Level 12?" Someone gasped almost instinctively.
Things of this caliber are usually only mentioned by a very few people. They are calmly referred to as "shells," but all the generals present knew that they were not weapons in the ordinary sense. If they were to get out of control, the consequences would be far beyond what any single city could bear.
Mo Runshu paused for a moment, his gaze sweeping over the crowd.
"Preliminary investigations point to certain individuals within the Holy Spirit Cult and the Spirit Pagoda," he said. "However, you don't need to panic too much. The two lost tokens are 'World Destroyer' and 'Heaven and Earth Devourer.' The last one—'Eternal Heaven'—is still in our hands."
Upon hearing this, the generals visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
Mo Runshu noticed their reactions but didn't say anything immediately. Instead, he turned to look at Yue Mianmian.
Yue Mianmian nodded slightly, raised her hand, and a ball of silver light appeared in her palm. The light was not dazzling, but rather had a calm coldness, which made many people present instinctively tense up.
"The council and the security committee have decided," Mo Runshu continued, "that this shell will no longer remain in the Temple of War, but will be jointly controlled by Vice Speaker Yue and me. I will be responsible for the physical containment, and she will be responsible for the mental control. It can only be used when both of us are present."
The generals did not speak immediately.
They understood, of course, what this meant. The two stolen level 12 shells were dangerous enough, but at least the last one was firmly in their hands, preventing the situation from spiraling completely out of control. Yet, this very fact indicated that the situation would not be simple. Since the enemy dared to act, they wouldn't just focus on one place.
"There's one more thing," Mo Runshu said in a lower voice, "Don't publicize this matter yet, to avoid causing unnecessary panic. There are likely people watching from both inside and outside the company. The more chaotic things get, the easier it will be for the other side to take advantage of us."
This time, no one raised any objections. Only the rustling of papers and soft breathing filled the meeting room.
Just before the meeting adjourned, someone whispered, "Speaker, so... what do we do next?"
Mo Runshu raised his eyes and looked at the light at the end of the table, his expression unchanged.
"Wait," he said. "Let's see what they want to do first."
---
A hundred miles away, in front of a cave on a desolate mountain, the wind was much colder than in the city.
The man in black robes, Qian Gu Dongfeng, was staring intently at the dark red cannonball in his hand, his expression almost obsessive. The surface of the cannonball faintly glowed with dark red patterns, like some kind of suppressed pulse; when he held it in his hand, even the air seemed to become heavier.
The black mist around him slowly dissipated, and the figure of the Ghost Emperor materialized. The deep blue "World Destroyer" weapon, engraved with a hideous ghost face, hovered in his palm.
"Not getting 'Eternal Heaven' isn't such a loss after all." Qian Gu Dongfeng chuckled softly, a hint of barely suppressed excitement in his eyes. "With these two, we can hold the line for now."
The Ghost Emperor sneered, "That brat Mo Runshu really dares to play games. He let us take two fakes, but kept the real ones for himself."
"A fake?" Qian Gu Dongfeng raised his head, exploring the fantasy novel genre.
"It's not obvious on the surface." The Ghost Emperor's tone was gloomy. "You think he's just hiding things? It's not that simple. He's included us all in his calculations."
Qian Gu Dongfeng was silent for a moment, then a smile slowly appeared on his lips. The smile was somewhat eerie, and also somewhat greedy.
The Ghost Emperor did not respond, but stared at the "world-destroying" weapon, his eyes as deep as a bottomless well.
They all knew this wasn't over yet. Taking action now might not be worthwhile; they needed to see how the Federation would react first. Especially in situations like this, they couldn't afford to rush things.
Soon, the Ghost Emperor ordered "Heaven and Earth Destroyed" to be sent to the sect's forbidden area, and the entire sect went on high alert. Qian Gu Dongfeng did not delay either, and put "Devouring Heaven and Earth" into his soul guide storage ring.
The desolate mountain was eerily quiet, with only the wind whistling through the cave entrance, making a sharp, shrill sound, like something grinding its teeth in the shadows.
---
After the meeting, Mo Runshu and Yue Mianmian returned to their private room.
As soon as the door closed, the tense atmosphere outside seemed to dissipate. The sternness on Mo Runshu's face relaxed, and he leaned back on the sofa, letting out a long breath, as if he could finally catch his breath.
Yue Mianmian stood by the window, gazing at the city view outside, not speaking immediately. After a while, she said softly, "They've already got their hands on them. If they really use those two things, the consequences will be very troublesome."
"I know." Mo Runshu looked up at her, the weariness in his eyes quickly fading, replaced by calmness and determination. "That's why we can't do nothing."
Yue Mianmian turned around and looked at him, her gaze calm yet clear.
Mo Runshu smiled, stood up, and reached out to take her hand. His movements were light yet steady, as if to tell her that no matter how chaotic things were outside, at least he could still stand firm.
"The risk is a bit high," he said, "but the enemy will never reveal their weakness on their own if they don't try."
The moment he finished speaking, his eyes suddenly changed slightly.
His left eye was like a blazing sun, while his right eye was as cold as a crescent moon.
Second Martial Soul: Possessed by the Goddess of the Sun and Moon.
The next second, the surrounding scenery began to change. The walls, sofa, and city lights outside the window of the lounge were all gradually pulled away by some force, replaced by a space composed of gears, magic circles, and flowing light patterns. It was not reality, but his Sun and Moon demiplane.
It's unusually quiet here.
It was so quiet that Yuemanmai subconsciously held her breath.
"Outsiders can't come in." Mo Runshu's voice echoed in the space, sounding somewhat empty, but also calmer.
He raised his hand and slowly tossed the "Eternal Heaven" into the depths of the demiplane. There, a throne formed from the essence of the sun and moon hung silently, as if it had been waiting for him for a long time.
When the shell landed, there was no earth-shattering explosion, only a slow and heavy stream of light spreading out. The soul-guiding array and the power of the sun and moon intertwined and permeated little by little, as if trying to completely swallow the shell.
Yue Mianmian stood not far away, watching him with worry in her eyes, but also with trust.
She knew what he was doing, and she knew how risky it was. But she also knew that Mo Runshu wasn't the kind of person who would just sit in a safe place and wait for the outcome. Once he decided to do something, he would definitely push it to the very end.
"Are you really going to integrate it into yourself?" she asked in a low voice.
Mo Runshu didn't turn around, but stood before the throne, his voice soft: "What others see is a cannonball. What's truly useful is when it merges with me."
After he finished speaking, he raised his hand, and his divine sense slowly spread out, landing on the weapon that was being nurtured by the power of the sun and moon.
The light gradually sank, as if it were being slowly swallowed up by something.
When the "Eternal Heaven" was completely integrated into this demiplane, Mo Runshu slowly raised his eyes, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
The smile wasn't gentle; rather, it carried a hint of coldness.
"When it's completely unified," he said softly, "the reckoning will begin."
Yue Mianmian watched his retreating figure without saying a word.
She simply stood there, quietly watching the figure enveloped in light and shadow, and suddenly realized that what was about to happen was probably not just an ordinary crisis.
Rather, it was the prelude to the real shift in the entire situation.
