Chapter 11 The Vanished Enemy
Chapter 11 The Vanished Enemy
The moment the man spoke, Suren pulled the trigger.
In Suren's mind, this man had already been labeled "extremely dangerous," and Suren never hesitated to deal with enemies.
But suddenly, the man's head mysteriously split in two, dodging the bullet.
His head looked like a split watermelon, but no blood was flowing out.
Suren cursed under his breath, "Another inhuman bastard."
Unlike Alf last time, this guy is obviously much weaker and slower.
Just then, the strange man suddenly vanished, as if he had never been there at all.
"Invisibility? No, the footsteps have all disappeared, and I can't sense its presence at all in the alley." Suren thought to himself, but his actions didn't stop for a moment. He used [Mirror Transmission] on the water, and a beam of azure light covered the water. Suren couldn't see the monster's figure in the reflection created by the water.
Suren licked his lips; things were getting a little out of his control.
Suren slowly backed away, leaning his back against the wall, and focused all his attention on his surroundings.
The only sound in the alley was Su Lun's soft breathing.
"Whoosh—"
The eerie head appeared in front of Suren without warning, accompanied by a sharp whooshing sound, and the two heads clamped down on Suren's head like carnivorous plants hunting prey.
Suren crouched down almost instinctively, narrowly avoiding the fatal blow.
He pulled the trigger the moment he crouched down, but there was no sound of a bullet hitting an object.
Before he could catch his breath, he rolled to the side to create distance.
Suren looked up and saw that the alley was deserted.
The monster disappeared again.
Just from the sound of that attack cutting through the air, Suren could tell that if he had been hit, he would have certainly died.
I fired very quickly, but I still missed the target.
No, if this continues, he'll wear me down sooner or later. Suren's mind raced.
"So that's how it is..." Suren sneered inwardly, having found the monster's weakness in the scene he had just recalled.
Suren pulled down the hammer, walked to the wall in front of the water, and slowly squatted down.
If the monster attacks him again while he's crouching down, it will be even more difficult for him to dodge.
Suren took a deep breath, the dark muzzle of his gun aimed at the puddles. His "Source of Knowledge" was being consumed rapidly, and in 7 seconds, his "Source of Knowledge" would be completely drained.
The world in his eyes slowly faded, just like the scene when Suren first activated his ability, and the situation was very similar.
The eerie head reappeared, and the same attack came again, but this time Suren had nowhere to dodge.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two gunshots rang out in quick succession in the alley. Because of Suren's crouching position, the water was attacked in a shorter time. Before the monster's attack could reach it, two clouds of blood mist exploded from its chest. The monster staggered backward, lost its balance, and fell to the ground.
Suren turned his gun around and fired two shots at the monster's head, emptying all his bullets.
He didn't feel it was a waste, after all, his life was more valuable than bullets. If four silver bullets couldn't kill the other party, then he could run away.
After waiting for about ten seconds, Suren carefully walked to the corpse and kicked the monster to confirm that it was dead.
This monster's ability doesn't seem like invisibility; it's more like erasing its own existence. This ability is canceled the moment the opponent attacks, which gives Suren an opportunity to attack the opponent through a mirror image the instant the opponent appears.
From the "sacred object" mentioned by the other party, it can be inferred that he should be a member of the "classical wisdom society".
Suren was glad that he had created a new arcane technique before coming, and even more glad that he had brought his weapon.
Just as Suren was pondering, the monster's corpse melted like a wax figure, eventually turning into a pool of murky yellow liquid on the ground, leaving behind only two glowing objects and a set of clothes.
Although it's environmentally friendly, this form of expression is also quite disgusting, Su Lun couldn't help but complain.
Without looking closely, he forced himself to put the two items into the cloth bag, enduring the nauseating feeling.
After quickly picking up the remaining bullet casings and using the [Information Lock] to encrypt the information about himself, Suren picked up the bag and swiftly left.
He didn't want to become a harbinger of death only to have his secrets discovered and be forced into exile.
While running, Suren noticed that his "Source Knowledge" was recovering faster, and its total limit had also increased significantly.
Suren felt a little strange. When he used the secret technique to test it before, he did not receive any feedback from "Source Knowledge".
The same ability produced different results.
"Perhaps it's because I was just testing my ability and didn't use it in combat. But if that's the case, why did I get feedback when I used my ability at the duty station?"
Suren was making his own guesses when, without realizing it, he had already arrived at the door of his new home.
She opened the door, threw the cloth bag on the table, and started boiling water using the kettle that was already in the room.
He sighed. So many things had happened in just two days since he arrived in this world, and his questions were growing.
If it were Karl, he probably wouldn't think about so many things, but Suren is different; he has a natural curiosity about the unknown.
His traits, in a sense, are quite compatible with "The Book of Secrets".
Suren suddenly realized a problem: since his existence was a secret, was his act of concealment unintentionally practicing the rules? This also led to his speed in increasing the upper limit of "Source Knowledge" not being slow.
Suren felt that his guess was pretty accurate, and he could make more contact with the other Deathbirds recently to observe their situations.
Feeling pleased that he had solved a mystery, Suren opened the bag and took out the two items.
Suren glanced at the stained clothes in the bag, her lips twitching. These clothes were no longer acceptable.
Suren placed the object on the paper and examined it carefully.
One of the items is very similar to the "Demon Heart" used for advancement, except that its shape is more like a brain, with a phantom symbol floating on it, exactly the same as the mark that appears when Suren activates his ability.
Suren nodded as he looked at the symbol, which further confirmed his own guess: the original source of power of the "Filthy Ones" of the "Classical Wisdom Society" had been corrupted by him, turning them into demons.
According to creation myths, demons from hell roamed the human world. Then four gods appeared and, with their divine power, forged a "sacred barrier" to keep the demons out of towns, thus forming the present-day continent of Sanctuary.
Occasionally, demons break through the barrier and appear in the city, and those who ask the evil god for power are corrupted by the evil god and become demons themselves.
But before I came to this world, the “Filthy Ones” of the “Classical Wisdom Society” showed no signs of turning into demons. Could it be that the so-called “God of Knowledge” was corrupted into an evil god by me?
Compared to this explanation, Suren was more convinced that the "evil god" claim was just a smokescreen.
He got up and poured himself a glass of hot water. He looked at the second object, which was even more disgusting—it was a human eyeball.
This should be the special material recorded in the encyclopedia, which is generally used to make items, potions, or enchantments.
Suren was very skeptical; would anyone really be willing to buy such disgusting materials?
As for the "Demon Heart," Suren has no intention of selling it; using it to slow down the erosion would be far more profitable than selling it.
Then, Suren closed his eyes; he now needed to use [Revelation] to try and uncover the man's hidden secrets.
