Chapter 207: Where is the Demon?
Chapter 207: Where is the Demon?
"So that's it!"
Roya's spirit sense quivered as realization struck. This was one of the true paths for rapidly strengthening a spiritual projection—a discovery of immense significance.
And it confirmed beyond doubt: the genetic level of these natives was indeed far superior to those of Pirate Star and Oceanus Star.
After all, Lucci had long been cultivating a religion within the warbands, encouraging the deification of Roya. The number of warriors who fervently worshiped and believed in him there was far greater than the twenty thousand tribesmen kneeling before him now.
Yet until this very moment, Roya had never personally felt the direct link between faith and the growth of his spiritual projection.
The effect of these twenty thousand natives kneeling and praying together far exceeded that of hundreds of thousands of fanatical soldiers. Their collective devotion even created a siphoning vortex in the Warp, accelerating his projection's growth at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Unable to resist, Roya sent out his perception once more, sweeping across every tribesman present, carefully analyzing their genetic structures.
His heart leapt with joy. Every single one of these warriors possessed potential no less than that of the Supernova pirates like Kidd.
On Pirate Star, a Supernova-level fighter was a one-in-a-million rarity. But here? These natives were born at that baseline. Some of the strongest among them already displayed power comparable to Whitebeard and Kaido—and still had vast untapped potential.
"This planet must be secured. Not only for its powerful soldier stock, not only for the rapid growth of my projection… but also to seed its bloodlines into Pirate Star and Oceanus Star. If we transplant part of this population there, their genetic strength will raise the baseline of future generations, creating ever-stronger offspring!"
Resolved, Roya slowed, descending to hover five meters above the ground. The ten armored warriors formed up behind him, heightening his aura of mystery and divine might.
Without a word, the two tribal chieftains hurried forth from their people and prostrated themselves at Roya's feet.
In unison, they removed the skull pendants from their necks and raised them high—offering their most sacred symbols of leadership, surrendering their thrones as a token of their devotion.
Roya gestured lightly, drawing the pendants to him with telekinetic grace, then melted them directly into the helms of Nuwa and Whitebeard's war-armor.
Seeing their sacrifices accepted, the chiefs were overjoyed. After exchanging a look, the elder among them spoke reverently:
"O Great God, have mercy upon your children! Slay the terrible demons who feast upon us!"
The request did not surprise Roya. He had already deduced that the massive projection cloaked over this world belonged to a predator that had slaughtered countless natives.
That alone explained how it drew endless power from their inherited terror—terror strong enough to feed its projection.
To maintain such fear, to prevent the natives from ever growing strong enough to resist, it must have culled them constantly. That was why their civilization had stagnated so badly, despite their extraordinary genes.
To these people, it was no god, but a hated and invincible demon king.
This world had escaped harvest by the Necrons—only to fall under the far crueller harvest of terror by this abomination.
Faith could birth power. But fear… fear could do the same.
"Where is the demon?"
Roya's voice rang not through the air, but through the minds of all. His will surged through their consciousness, declaring that he had come to destroy their hated god.
The tribesmen gasped with joy. Then, as one, they turned their gaze toward the end of the plain—where a strange mountain jutted from the earth like a titanic stone shard driven in at a slant.
Clearly, the demon's lair lay within that mountain.
At that very moment, Imu's voice came through the ship-soul link:
"My lord! We've detected what seems to be a crashed ship, right at your location!
There are numerous life-signs inside. Most are faint—likely in hibernation. But one is vastly stronger, its energy signature surpassing all the others combined!"
Understanding dawned. No wonder the "mountain" was so oddly shaped—it truly was a ship, buried nose-first into the earth.
After millennia of wind and weather, soil and foliage had masked its hull, transforming it into a natural-looking peak.
But within lay secrets—and a nest of demons that had preyed upon the natives for generations.
"Mythic Squad, breach from the summit. Warband Squad, break in from the base. Eliminate every alien within!"
"I will monitor both Warp and realspace for signs of the demon itself. If it awakens, you are to teleport back to the Hades immediately."
Nuwa and Whitebeard acknowledged, leading their teams into motion.
The Mythic Squad rose skyward, halting at the mountaintop. Athena swung her twin Chaos Blades, their flames shrieking as she carved a five-meter-wide circle into the hull.
The weathered plating, eroded by tens of thousands of years, crumbled under her psionic fire. The section broke loose, leaving a breach.
Nuwa kicked the severed slab clear over the cliff, then leapt boldly into the ship's remains.
At the base, Whitebeard had no need to carve—there were already several massive five-meter tunnels leading inward.
But the view was grim: the passages were pitch-dark, coated in viscous yellow slime, smeared with blood, hair, and worse.
Clearly, these were the hunting tunnels the demons used to stalk and drag away humans.
This time, Kaido surged ahead, swinging his iron club as he charged.
"Come on, lads! We're making a stand today—no way we let those rookies outshine us again!"
His booming voice echoed painfully through the narrow corridors, rattling eardrums.
And it awoke the ship's inhabitants.
Footsteps shuffled. Wings beat. Shrill cries of menace reverberated as countless creatures stirred from their slumber.
Kaido only grinned wickedly.
"Oh-ho! Sounds like there's plenty in here! Boys, how about a contest? Let's see who racks up the highest kill count!"
